I grew up a navy brat up and down the East coast. My mother grew up in Hartford and North Kingstown, R.I. I was raised on their grinders, and now live in South Carolina. But I always stop to get grinders every chance I get when I go up there to visit family. You will not get a better sandwich anywhe...

This is one of the best Mexican restrauant in the area. It is true mexican food.
I eat here 3x's week. I compair it to a low key Max-A-Mia's. The chef is creative, the service is good and the food is always fresh.
We were in the Admirals Room which only opens for overflow on Saturday night. Not the greatest atmosphere but the food was superb. Even the baked potato was like a home baked potato fresh from the oven. Excellent waitress, attentive but not hovering. Drinks were so so. Dessert - Key lime pie filling...
Pretty good food for the money you pay. This was our first time eating Caribbean cuisine & must say we liked it. Especially the Goat curry & Jerk chicken.
I bought a french bagette, a loaf of rye bread , and a roast beef sandwich at the First and Last Deli last week and I will never go back again. Both breads I bought tasted like two day old bread (stale) and heavy on the salt. The roast beef was too well done, stale bread (again), veggies non- exsist...
an excellent choice for well priced italian food on franklin ave.grinder shop setting but great food. penne with spinach and garlic and olive oli to die for. even catch an early dinner, they close at 7. try it and you'll be hooked.
Admitedly, it is kind of a hole in the wall but the food is great. Try the beef cutlet grinder for something different--highly recomended.
I used to go to this place back in the late 70s. If for no other reason, let's give empire a little credit for still exisitng. A lot of 'em don't, right? Something must be working for the place. I used to get a rockin' eggplant parmesean grinder here (do they still call it "grinder"?) go.

After working a hard day at a high end formal restaurant, I love bellying up to a rustic comfortable bar with a nice cold Stella. Although I don't know what nights are like, lunch is relaxing. A friendly staff knows when to chat with you and when not to. It feels like "home."
GREAT PLACE TO DINE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS, REMEMBER, IT'S JUST A GRINDER SHOP, BUT WHAT GREAT SOUPS, AND FOOD. VINNY,HIS WIFE AND STAFF ARE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME. TRY IT , YOU WILL LOVE IT.

YUM!!!
Best Itialan resturant around! The grinder are stack high and deliciuos. They have the best beef cult in CT. You won't ever get a bad meal!
Great place to go. I have gone in several times since moving to CT and NEVER disappointed. Don't save this place as a "special occasion" dining experience....go as soon as you can...definitely worth it...Filet Mignon is excellent!!!
A great restaurant, with a great atmosphere. The spaghetti sauce is the best that I have ever had. The pizzas are outstanding as well. This restaurant is a Hartford landmark, as well as an asset to the south end of Hartford. Good job.

Service and Atmosphere are first rate! The food is standard Max restaurant fare, uninspired and overpriced.
Excellent food and wine selection, including some of the best desserts around! Service is great, featuring a very friendly and accomodating staff! This is a perfect restaurant for special occasions or everyday fine dining.
