I have visited Hal's many times over the years and the quality of food and service never varies, always great! Sufficient wine list, good selection of after meal cigars, enjoyable but not intrusive piano player. Try any veal dish and you won't be disappointed. I'd put their creamed spinach against any I've tried including in NYC.
