Carniceria Ramirez is a small take-out Mexican counter tucked into a strip behind the Publix on Bolton Road, on Atlanta's Upper Westside near the Chattahoochee. The Infatuation calls it "a worthy stop" for "quick and tasty Mexican-style tacos to take home," and reviewers across Yelp and Tripadvisor consistently single out the tacos — eight protein options including barbacoa, carne asada, chorizo, and mushrooms, doubled up in corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. The menu reaches beyond tacos into tortas, burritos, and full plates like mojarras fritas, and the room is more functional than scenic. Outdoor seating is available, but most customers grab and go. The Bolton Road corridor is industrial and unremarkable from the street, which keeps Carniceria Ramirez under the radar for diners who don't already know it. The setup is the giveaway to what this place actually is — a carniceria first, a taqueria second. The butcher case at the back of the room sells the same proteins that come out of the kitchen, which is also why the meat is good: it doesn't have far to travel and it doesn't sit. Saturday and Sunday opening at 8 a.m. makes it an early option when most of Atlanta's Mexican kitchens don't unlock the doors until 11. Spanish is the working language; English is fine. Cash and cards both work.
