Welcome to 223 South Elm Restaurant. Chef Jason Jones' menu features an innovative southern cuisine that will challenge your palette. Featured appetizers include Nori sesame tempura fried oysters, herb fried greens tomatoes and gluten-free fusilli. Once you are ready for the main course, you can choose between a Certified Angus Ribeye, bacon wrapped beef tenderloin, jumbo lump blue crab cakes and an asparagus and apple wood bacon risotto just to name a few. Whether you are in the mood to indulge in something new or just want to enjoy some old favorites, we promise that our inventive menu and attentive service will leave you truly satisfied.
But, the food is not the only reason to try our restaurant. The romantic ambiance originated from renovated historic building in downtown Greensboro. Whether you are in the main dining room or enjoying your meal at one of our more private tables on the in the balcony, the friendly and attentive staff at 223 South Elm promises to make your next dining experience one to remember.
Not the type of place that you want to bring the kids... But if you're looking for a romantic environment or somewhere to have good fun and conversation without being bothered by bad service or loud noises this is the place. Jason, the chef, is creative, friendly and a culinary genious. The restaurant is run with a knowledgable staff while the food melts in your mouth. The prices are slightly high, but for an overall package it's well worth it. If you're looking for a great deal go at lunch time where you can eat for the price of McDonalds but get food that surpasses all expectations at a great price. A must do for fine dining, for a more relaxing environment come during the week or on a SAt night when a lot of the regulars come in. The staff will treat you great and the food will be wonderful as long as you have a palate that is discerning and get your meal as the chef recommends it.

Lovely restaurant with enticing menu, but unfortunately for us the food did not deliver.
Crab cakes were way too bready inside, making you think they were stretching the crab..unforgivable at this price. Duck breast slices were enveloped by fatty skin, not even loosened from the flesh, resulting in much sawing and an unsightly pile on the plate. The knife, however, was impressive!
The too heavy sweet potato, blue cheese, spinach combo was offered clashing flavors while the flavorless spinach resembled flattened seaweed.
Good news came with the creme brulee which was classic with delicate addition of raspberries and blackberries.
Disappointing meal overall.
