Sweet Potato Cafe occupies a Craftsman-style house on Manor Drive, just off the historic Stone Mountain village square. The conceit, executed earnestly, is American Southern comfort food where the sweet potato runs through the menu as a connecting thread — sweet potato biscuits, loaded sweet potatoes, a crispy sweet potato bowl with goat cheese and pecans, sweet potato hummus, sweet potato pound cake, sweet potato pie. Everything else on the menu is in conversation with that. The kitchen is farm-to-table in a way that holds up under scrutiny — there's an onsite vegetable garden and a network of local farmers practicing sustainable agriculture, with menu changes that follow what's coming in. Beyond the sweet-potato thread, Tripadvisor and Yelp reviewers consistently single out the fried green tomatoes ("the best fried green tomatoes around"), salmon croquettes, corn nuggets, and a pulled pork mac and cheese. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are integrated through the menu rather than relegated to a footnote. The room is small — five or six tables inside, a porch and patio that accept dogs — which is part of the appeal and also the operational constraint that drives the recurring review note: service can be slow on busy weekends, and reservations are strongly suggested.
