I cannot understand why anyone would give this restaurant anything less than a 5 star. Those who do are expecting far too much and trying to compare it with full Mexican establishments which they forget, is not.
I just discovered this little diamond in the rough two days ago. It may not fit the ambiance or menu selection of several Mexican restaurants downtown or elsewhere, but the food is absolutely fantastic.
To add, I am a frequent tamale eater and usually purchase my tamales from Evies, which BTW, also have great tamales, but after having them from LaBotana, I was blown away. My tamale purchases will now divert to LaBotana.
You cannot go wrong with LaBotana, whether it's carry out or dining in, you'll enjoy their food.
