If you are lookimg for a bad dining experience, try the Etrusco Restaurant in Sarasota. Stopped in the restroom first - the room was very dirty - no towels. 3 menus when there were 4 of us. Ordered a wine that was on the menu and the waiter said he thought they didn't have any. Sent back 3 glasses with lipstick stains on them before we got any water. Took a long time to order and longer to get the salad. Waiter told us he was waiting for bread to come out of the oven. When it appeared it was cold. Dinner was adequate. We received a second basket of bread when we were finished with the meal. When we went to pay the bill, we were told our credit card was refused. It was simply not true as we checked immediately upon leaving the restaurant and the card was fine as we knew it was. Overall, it was the worst dining experience we have ever had in Sarasota.

After being seated waited 10-15 minutes and had to signal for the waiter to come over. He apologized, took order and left. Had to ask him to bring bread. Wife ordered Scampi but got some kind of fish; not at all what she wanted (waiter apologized again). Had a restaurant.com gift certificate which he would not accept; said Saturdays were excluded; however, certificate did not state this!(another apology)... Meals were fair, at best. Restaurant is very loud (no carpeting) sounds like a bus station. Had to wait for bill after I asked for it. Another apology from the waiter.

Run Forrest Run!
My wife and I, always on the lookout for a new dining experience were excited to try Etrusco. We learned of them through Restaurants.com. A small token coupon in hand we set out.
Upon arrival we were seated and the menu's given. Upside down. Not a big deal just a bit funny. The waiter came back, took them and walked away without an order placed. We got to do that from memory 10 minutes later. Still, not too bad but the humor is beginning to wane. Several courses were brought and the waiter at this point needed to make sure that I wanted a particular grouper dish which was the only one on the menu.
Ahh, entre time. The food was delivered. We requested parmesan on the side and were told that it was not proper and real italians don't eat that way. I guess we should have checked first but alas, this night, out of luck with the parmeson. Glasses remained empty until right before we were ready to shoot off flares.
After the meal, with plates littering the table, we were left to ponder what coffee and dessert might taste like. But alas, maybe another day as the bill was presented. By now we were kept company only by the empty dishes on the table being the only people in the restaurant at this point.
We were then told the coupon that we had would not be honored as we had "failed to live up to our obligation to present it at the begininning of the meal and that the owner had decided not to accept them on weekends anymore anyway but that doesn't matter as we were negligent in fulfilling our half of the bargain.
"I don't expect you to take this out on me", he said, "I am merely the messenger, even though you probably won't come back". Send over the manager we asked. "No, I can't do that".
The title of waiter usually comes with a stigma of service and not waiting. Tack on abuse to bad service and the tip just magically disappears.
But hold on, the plot takes on a new beginning. Upon discovering no reimbursements for his dire efforts to please, and after treating us with such exceptional contempt, our hero the waiter chased us into the parking lot to shout at the top of his lungs all of the obscene words that he learned from the movies.
So in synopsis, if you like dinner and a show this is your place. If not maybe they could put in a take out window as the food was good.

Awful service. After an hour with only a glass of water, a roll, and a glass of wine I left. I've no idea about the food.

Excellent Italian food. Comfortable atmosphere. Nice staff. Restaurant was closed at the time of our original reservation. We came back the next day. And, our order got mixed up. But, on the whole, a wonderful restaurant.

I had an awful dining experience here. The service was as poor as I’ve experienced. After one hour, I was served one roll, one glass of water, and one glass of wine. When I complained the chef/owner told me that I need to relax, because “this is America.”
I cannot recommend it.

Waitress nice but not very knowledgeable. Had to ask twice for cutlery. My husband ordered the special Oso Buco which was average, meat ok served with bolognaise sauce and spaghetti so nothing special but charged >$30!!!! Overcharged on check and had to re-do. 2 meals + 1 glass of wine & 1 coffee (no starters or dessert) $70+. Not worth it.

I have no idea about the quality of food. I waited one hour received one glass of wine and one roll. No salad, no request for another wine order, no apology for the delay. I walked out.
Later I called an the manager/chef/owner said I did not know how to have a good time.
THE SERVICE IS AWFUL! TERRIBLE! DO NOT EAT HERE!

Italian to die for! Being a New Yorker living in Florida it has been quite the challenge finding good Italian in the sunshine state. Found it! Etrusco of Sarasota - Award winning chef Sol imported from New York
