I just had dinner at Kobe in Carrollton, Ga tonight (5-13-09) and it was very good. I also ate dinner at Osaka last week in Carrollton to get a good comparison on the two for those who want to know which Japanese restaurant they should choose and because I just love Japanese Hibachi food. At first Kobe does not look like much since it is in a strip mall, and inside is about average with the decor, but the food is good and the pricing is a good value for a Japanese restaurant. The ambiance is better at Osaka, but the food is better at Kobe. The best thing with regards to pricing at Kobe is they do not up charge you for fried rice as they do at Osaka. I don't know about you, but I hate it when a Japanese restaurant up charges for fried rice. I would say 9 out of 10 people want fried rice and it is like those restaurants that do this hold you hostage to pay this extra $2.50 or so for something you expect to be included in the prices. The rice is very good at Kobe by the way, the soup is also very good, and the meats are good. If I had to choose between the two, Kobe would be my choice. Overall the flavoring is much better at Kobe if that is you deciding factor, as well as pricing is better. The cooks at Osaka seem a little more outgoing and entertaining if that is you priority and the restaurant is a little nicer. Hope this helped you make a choice if you are craving Japanese in Carrollton, GA.

I have dined with various friends at this hibachi style restaurant several times, including this evening when we celebrated a young friend's 23rd birthday. This is one of our Carrollton gems. Not only is the food among the best in West Georgia, but the chefs are skilled performers. It is like going to the theater and having the star actor cook you a fine meal. Our Carrollton Kobe surpasses any similar restaurant in Atlanta at about half the price.
