Welcome to Bonnie Kay Seafood. This third generation owned and operated restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in Greensboro. We were established in 1957 on some simple principles. First, no food is cooked ahead of time and the waitress takes it directly from the pass to the table. Second, be selective about where our seafood comes from. The result is a fresh calabash experience that is second to none.

This is by far the best "Southern Style" seafood on the planet.I have been going to this place since the 60's and it has held up to the test of time.The only thing I wish they would change would be to go back to serving on the paper plates like Fuzzy wanted it to be served on.I would recomend the Fried Oysters, the best I have ever had,Keep up the good work and fine food.You are am Icon in the Seafood lovers world !

I recently made my first visit to Bonnie Kay's, based upon several positive internet reviews. Going there reminded me of some of the "fish camps" my grandparents took us to as kids. Which is exactly the experience I was looking for...
The batter was absolutely perfect, providing a crisp flavorful texture that was not greasy. Flounder, shrimp, oysters, and a deviled crab were cooked to perfection and tasted fresh.
I've eaten at a lot of seafood places anywhere from Key West, all the way up the coast to Maine.
The oysters absolutely just melted in one's mouth...I'd say it's the "best" seafood I've ever eaten aside from a famous one up in Salem, Ma. that's now closed.
***the flounder served for my recent visit, was served up as if it'd just come off the boat. Fillet, but not of the McDonalds variety. ; )
Another item to mention is that it's very close to I-40/85 but makes a person feel like they're out in the country. Very friendly and locals type of atmosphere, a welcome alternative to a "city" feel.

You would think that living in Florida I would have a favorite seafood place down here, but I have yet to find anything that comes close to the overall experience I get at Bonnie Kay's. Whenever we find ourselves in the Greensborough area, which is not often enough, we must stop by for dinner! The slaw is yummy and the hush puppies are to die for!

I have enjoyed Bonnie Kay's Seafood since I was four years old. Friendly, neighborly, and popular with us locals for many years. Little change to the menu and quality is still there. More fried entrees than baked but, a good place to eat and kid friendly.

Bonnie Kay’s is the most family oriented restaurant I have ever been and my family ran restaurants for years. With the restaurant nestled behind the two private ponds and a walking bridge over the water for feeding the fish, turtles, ducks and geese. So don’t eat all you’re hush puppies! The kids will love it;) the food is good and very reasonably priced. I recommend trying Bonnie Kay’s for you’re self and see why it’s been in business for over 50 years.

Changes are not always for the better.
This "fish camp" style restaurant has been a staple in my life since I was a child. Patrons could always depend on a meal of fresh, well prepared seafood not unlike they might expect from the seafood establishments found in historic Little River, NC.
Sadly, that changed during the Fall of 2007. An order of flounder will net the diner a few slabs of processed fish. It may be flounder meat, but I call it "pressed" fish that resembles fish cakes, or, a nice piece of "fillet-o-fish" from you know where.
Knowing the flounder is worth little, I still thought I'd like to dine there again. They have a dish called "sauteed shrimp" that is my next favorite (after flounder). It was another disappointment. The shrimp have shrunk and are rubbery in texture. The saute wasn't the spicy quality I have come to expect either.
I, sorrowfully, am giving up on Bonnie Kay's Seafood and will be shopping for a new tradition to enjoy.

Family Restaurant. Good, reasonably priced menu with choices of baked, broiled, fried. View of pond and geese adds to ambience. Good senior priced plates.
