My family, including my 18 month old grandchild stopped in Gainesville last weekend to see the University on the way to Disney. The hotel recommended Amelia's and did us a big favor doing so. The food was absolutely superb. I had shrimp fra diavalo which was as good as any I had ever had. My wife loved the chicken with Eggplant, Prosciutto,& Mozzarella. My son-in-law is still talking about the fresh red snapper and my daughter and granddaughter both loved their pastas. Everything was made fresh from fresh, not frozen ingredients. The service was tremendous down to the waiter helping to keep the baby occupied while we ate. The young chef is truly a master and obviously cares about his customers. He came out of the kitchen to greet the customers and treated us as regulars. While we live a little too far to be regulars, we will not pass through Gainesville without eating at Amelia's.

Our server wouldn't stop flirting with my wife. We got in a fight later and she single handedly ruined our 5 year anniversary. If you go there, do not get served by any lanky blond girl.

Amelia's was delicious. There is an incredible variety of food available, along with amazing daily specials to choose from. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. It is perfect for a great date night or a night out with friends. The outside seating is perfect on a cool night, especially to enjoy some of the wine off the extensive wine list. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant...many more times! All meals come in courses which allows for a slow-downed pace providing for an actual dining experience rather than simply a meal.
