Since we live and work in Nob Hill, we shop and eat local. However we will not be going back to Yanni's. Several times over the summer/Fall of 2007 when we have gone in for lunch- we have had to wait forever to get service and then the service was awful-There are 2 servers in particular who seem to be reluctant often bordering on judgemental on who and how they serve. The lettuce and tomatoes on the salads were wilted and soggy on all of these visits-we tried to overlook that as the food was always great. Then there are those times when one of us have been sick or loaded down with work where we have gone in for take out-only to be told by the bartender that they were too busy to take an order for take out (could understand if they refused to take phone orders on a busy day/night) With that being said; the owners of Yanni's should understand that the way customers are treated at the front of the house is the most important if you want devoted customers and customers should never be judged or shunned because of the way they look or how they are dressed; you never know who that person is that walks into your place of business!

The food and the service were wonderful - I was amazed at the portion size and impressed with the excellent service. The ambiance was lovely - and the live music refreshing

I've been coming here for 25+ years. To their credit, the quality and value have remained high. My favorite is the vegetarian dinner -- it's wonderful!

Question: What is the best type of lettuce to use for a Greek Salad? Answer: There isn't any lettuce in a real Greek Salad. Someone should let them know. If they want to advertise themselves as authentic, they should be.

Great authentic Greek food. None of the "americanized" greek you see so often. And they offer a great Ouzo!

i have to agree with the diner from Dallas. I would call the food "dressed-up Greek" though to separate it out from the generic "Greek restaurant". Detroit has tons of Greek and Middle Eastern restaurants and when my in-town friend said she wanted to go Greek, I let out an audible sigh. Next time it will be a YES! as I can't forget my wonderful Caesar salad, penne with tenderloin tips in Gorgonzola cream sauce, and the delightful way they spiced up the olive oil. Go Yanni's!

I am a visitor from Texas. This is the best Greek restaurant I have ever experienced. That includes trips to N.Y.C. and L.A. From specials to appetizers and Greek standards, everything was perfect!!!!!
