I live in California but visit Michigan yearly. Every tiem I come out to this part of Michigan I make sure I stop by and visit the Toias in their fish resetaurant. I have been to this place many times over the years and each time it only gets better. They have the best fish in town! I love the "all you can eat" fish and chips on Mondays, although I usually can only finish one plate because they give you so much food.

I have to admit that I stick to their specialty, fish & chips, only occasionally ordering their fried shrimp. In my opinion the fish and chips here are some of the best I've ever had. The staff is friendly. The service is average. The ambiance could be improved. The restaurant can seem a bit small and cramped and looking across at a store counter displaying fish for sale and tubs of cole slaw doesn't do much for me. Bottom line, however, is the fish & chips keep me coming back.

We had the fried mushrooms to start and I think they were just frozen bagged mushrooms from Costco. I had the "grilled" orange roughy and my bf had the "grilled" salmon. When we got the dishes I wondered if the waitress got the order wrong so I asked her to verify our order. No, apparently grilled = Pancho breading and a tub of butter in a saute pan. The salmon was almost white and tasted extremely fishy so I wonder how fresh (how old) it was. The roughy had no flavor other than butter. It was a huge disappointment. The bigger disappointment came when our bill arrived. Over $35 for butter. Now we both have stomach aches.
