Nick's has been around for forever, but I think their fryer grease may have been around even longer. This is a very loud place, with very slow service, and the food tastes like frozen stuff that has been popped into the deep fryer. Nothing tastes fresh. Overall a "meh" experience.

However, it is one of the only places in Rowlett where there is a bar and a metric ton of big screen tv's. Each booth has it's own small tv as well. If what you want is a beer, and a football game, and you don't care about ambiance or food, Nick's is your "go-to" place.

That said: This is not a "pub" by any stretch of the imagination.

i am fond of sports bars and pubs. this one does not qualify. the music is always screaming. good or bad, depending on taste, it doesn't matter when you have to scream to the people with you to have a conversation. The service is extremely slow. i suspect there is only a three toed sloth behind the grill to overcook the food one order at a time.
the drinks are overpriced and very weak. enough said about that.
it is still a local bar and grill(not a pub by any deffinition of the word) so it could be a convienient place to meet friends after work. just don't count on visiting with them. i recomend the new place down by the hospital. plenty of sports, which you can hear. much better food value too.

Nicks is one of the nicer local pubs you will ever visit. The food is outstanding and very well priced. The staff is freindly although they seem to spend a good part of their time behind the bar making converstaion with each other. There are plenty of TV around the place with various games on and a very large projector with whatever event is being featured at the time. It is a bar, so while early evening might be ok, later in the night it's not a place for kids. Overall, we liked it and will be back. It's the gig in Rowlett for watching a ball game with wings and beer.
