Dallas Restaurant Guide

We really love this place.

This is without a doubt the best seafood in Dallas. Ocean Air in the Galleria is close but the Mesquite Grill puts Newports ahead. The calamari is great! The mesquite grilled snaaper is incredible, and the Chocolate Truffle Pie is the richest chocolate desert intown.

Great place to dine. I love it, very nice without being too stuffy. The food and service is wonderful, and they always make me feel important. I've been 4 times over the past 3 years and I'm going back tonight. Love it.

My wife and I dined at Newports prior to going to the Dave Matthews Band concert at the AA Center. My first impression was that it was a nice, small, and intimate restaurant. The service was impecable. We started with a calamari appetizer which was delicious. They just melt in your mouth. I then had the Greek salad and my wife had the lobster bisque. The salad was good but the bisque was not so good. As an entree, I ordered the almond-crusted Atlantic sole (preported to be their best dish) and my wife ordered the "prime aged beef" ribeye steak. This is where the menu went sour. The Atlantic sole had absolutly no flavor at all and the ribeye (ordered med-rare) was about 1/4" thick. It looked like what you would get from a Bonanza steakhouse. We were really disappointed with the meal as a whole. We have eaten at several upscale restaurants, (Ruth Chris, Sullivans, Del Frisco, etc) and as far as food quality, doesn't hold a candle. This is a shame, because with just a little effort, it could be a great place to dine. With all of the good places in Dallas to eat, we won't be going back.
