The Midtown Family Restaurant has been in a new location for several years, so they are no longer located "midtown" but it is worth a trip if you want to experience a true Midwestern dining experience. The food is good, and hot and cheap. And there's lot of it, including all the usual side dishes. Their breaded tenderloin is crispy, tasty and huge. Of course it has to be, this is Iowa. The country fried steak has good flavor but can be a little chewy. The onion rings are great. Try a cherry Coke - they put in real cherry syrup and the refills are free. You might even want to call ahead for a reservation on a Friday or Saturday evening. It's a popular spot.
