Welcome to Memphis Smoke, a tribute to the traditional down-home music and rich smoked cuisine of Memphis featuring the deepest Live Blues every Friday and Saturday nights, with other events every other night of the week, right in Downtown Royal Oak. We have been awarded The Best BBQ restaurant, Best Place to Hear the Blues and to Hear Live Music by Real Detroit, Metro Times and The Daily Tribune several years in a row! Here at Memphis Smoke the atmosphere is great, the food is superb, and the service is outstanding, we also have a roof top patio which is a great place to hang out when the weather is nice! Our upbeat atmosphere is perfect for dining with friends, co-workers, and family members. The creative menu features a wide array of great selections including our Smoked BBQ items, always made from the highest quality ingredients. We spent a Monday evening on the roof top enjoying the food and summer breeze. Our waitress, Heather was very attentive and treated us well. Our food was hot and plentiful. We will be going back for additional taste feasts!

I was extremely dissatisfied with this restaurant. My Husband's Prime Rib was overdone and didn't even look like Prime Rib at all! But worse... we were there for a birthday party of over 15 people. We knew less than half of them... they put us all on the SAME bill. Okay fine, that's their policy, but they might have let us know that ahead of time... when I told them that, the manager said and I quote, "We don't have time to tell everyone!" What a lame excuse!!!! When we let him know that we wanted to have the bill separated because we planned to pay by credit, he threatened to call the police on us! Ridiculous!!! It was then that we finally got angry!!!!

The food is fine, but the staff, especially the managers, are RUDE. We asked for a blind to be closed, since the sun was blazing in our eyes. The staff refused to close it, since a couple was next to the window. We will NEVER go back.

Their food is excellent...with the proper "tang" to the brisket and a good and spicy jambalya. And the greens are wonderful. However...watch your bill...we were overcharged not once but twice...they just couldn't get it right the first two times.
