I had heard great comments about La Saj Lebanese Bistro but had never tried it. Am I sorry it took me this long--this place rocks!. The food is fresh, tastes great, and the service and value are excellent. The pita bread is the best I have EVER had--baked fresh right before it is served with the creamiest garlic sauce ever. I had their Lamb Shank specialty that is slow cooked for 5 hours. It absolutely fell off the bone and tasted wonderful. My husband had the traditional Chicken Shawarma. I had a taste and it was the best I have ever had--moist, not dry like other restaurants. Our server was Alicia--she's the best, but I noticed all of the staff was very good. I can't wait to go back soon.

Mixed feelings after dining at La Saj last Friday evening. The food is fantastic: easily the best Middle Eastern cuisine we've ever had. And the owners seemed genuinely interested in our experience. But the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired. The booths in the main dining room are quite awkward: we just couldn't get comfortable, and our discomfort increased as the room grew full and became hot, noisy, and even claustrophobic. The busboy was very attentive, refilling water and checking to see if we liked our meals (eyeing our full plates with concern: there was just too much to eat). But our waitress was simply SURLY. Having worked in service industries ourselves, we are very sympathetic to the difficulties of waitressing, but really, she was terrible. Rude eyerolls and shrugs when we asked questions about the menu; slamming things down in front of us; not checking back at all with us (thank goodness for the wonderful busboy); an angry "I'm busy!" when we asked, very politely, for the check, after waiting 20 minutes for her; another 10 minutes and then we had to ask for take home containers, then she didn't bring enough (but fortunately the hostess/owner? spotted us struggling to get our leftovers into the tiny boxes and brought us some more; and when we handed her the tip she just snapped "thanks" at us over her shoulder and walked away.
If we go back, we'll wait for a normal booth in the front of the restaurant, go at an odd time, or most likely, just order carry-out from now on...

This is an absolutely fabulous restaurant in every respect! I've never been disappointed and my guests were thrilled with the cuisine. Too bad you can't give it a six star rating! Terrific in every way!

La Saj owners personally greet you when you visit their restaurant. The food is fabulous – warm pita rounds, authentic Lebanese dishes, generous servings. The hummus is the best in the city. If you are in a hurry, they serve you promptly and get you on your way. I have eaten lunch here numerous times and it is my favorite.
