FYI to the recent comment. Jackie died in November 2007, so the comment posted in 2008 referring to her recent passing was a little off.

Finally, to the cretin, and you know who you are, you are an idiot and so is your friend. I hope you two slouching troglodyte gastropod slobs never set foot in Ham 'n Eggs again and disrespect Jackie's legacy. Get bent, and stop using your 50 cent adjectives and synonyms, you quasi-intellectual fraud.

BTW,the food is still stellar! TO JACKIE SHIELDS!

To the previous reviewer:
First, the food is good. No dispute here.
Second, and quite unrelated - the woman you called an idiot is not one; she is a friend and colleague, raised by competent parents and certainly no slob. She wears skirts more than pants and, by the way, is a server herself. I do not expect or accept excuses for unkind, unprofessional behavior and I wonder why anyone else would. I have seen managers fired for less. You are what you make of yourself, regardless of history. I see no reason why losing one's father in the war is a valid reason for berating a stranger for not living up to subjective expectations of posture. An owner has the right to refuse service, and she should have just asked my friend to leave for sitting so unacceptably, without comment.
My friend loves the food there, has never had a complaint about it, but expects to be treated with respect where she spends her hard-earned money.
How kind of you to disregard such atrocious behavior, and to expect so little of a grown woman, for a decent breakfast. For me and my friend, the food just doesn't taste as good when it's served with so much disdain for our patronage.

You people knocking this restaurant are idiots. First of all, Jackie Shields has been through a lot in her life, beaten by Japanese soldiers when they invaded the Philippines, while her father was taken on the Bataan Death March. She still has scars. She, unlike some of the writers on this page, has class, a backbone, and personal pride. Your friend must have been looking pretty slouchy to earn a tongue lashing. Don’t come back. Us fellow patrons don’t like disrespectful slobs in there anyway.

OK, now that I have vented, I do have to say the food is very good. My first breakfast there that got me hooked was a breakfast with two perfectly cooked eggs over easy, incredible potatoes, a plump and juicy pork chop, perfectly seasoned, and of course, the HUGE biscuit with gravy. That thing has its own gravitational field, it’s so big! The mammoth biscuit was perfectly baked and was at just the right amount of softness and crumbliness. The coffee is nice and strong, also. We’ve always gone for breakfast, but I’m doing lunch next week to see what that’s like. Word of warning – it’s cash or check only.

I highly recommend this restaurant, and Jackie is a trip. Wonderful lady. We actually talked with her after we ate, and my wife made a new best friend.

Excellent food. The "three egg" omlettes look like they were made with five or six eggs. The pancakes are gigantic. Served on a platter, they hang off the edge of the plate. Looked like the size of a large pizza sitting on my plate.

BEWARE OF OWNER!!!

I have to admit I love breakfast! It's definatly the greatest meal of the day...however I was HUMILIATED at this restaurant this past weekend when I decided to take a friend there. The service started out fine, but later in the meal we heard a loud voice from the back yelling at us in front of everyone. Out of our amazement it was the owner in the back who was sitting in an office chair watching us like hawk. She yelled at my friend to sit up like a lady and act like one. It seems that the owner didn't like the way she was sitting in the chair. After she called into question my friends character the waitress came to us to offer the bill. The waitress apologized to us and explained the harsh working conditions she had been going through since working there. We simply told her to look for other options if she wasn't being treated right and change jobs. At this point the owner was still watching us and overheard our conversation. As we were leaving we heard the owner yell at in a loud voice to the kind waitress...I'll write your letter of recommendation.!!!

No one should ever be treated like this, especially a customer.

BEWARE OF HAM & EGGS!!!
