What a terrific place! The food was absolutely terrific, the atmostphere couldn't have been more authentic. I would definately recommend this establishment to ANYONE truly in search of a real sushi/sashimi experience (and Japanese cuisine - not just sushi!) instead of the showboating that goes on is "some other" so called sushi bars. Niki's is the real deal - my troupe and I travel 2 hours one way just to eat there for all of our special occaisions!!

One of the older Japanese restaurants, where you sit at little low tables to eat. It's great if you don't have bad knees! The food is delicious. A long-time fixture in the San Antonio scene, this Japanese restaurant is located in an old house on the busy Hildebrand street, and offers simple elegance and great Japanese fare. It has been said that this restaurant is an excellent introduction to Japanese cuisine. The outside looks like a rustic Japanese inn, while inside the scene is serenely cozy. The sushi and sashimi are impeccably fresh. Delicious soups and cucumber salads.

I thought it was great. It is one of the best sushi bars in town. Even though the neighborhood isn't great and it is a moms and pops place it has delicious sushi. The sushi was fresh and the eggdrop soup was fab. I recommend going if you enjoy sushi, culture, and a great selection of drinks. The over all amount came to about 70 dollars but the waiter was kind and took off 30 dollars!! So we gave them a 30 dollar tip!!!I highly recommend visiting this resteraunt!!!

AWFUL, SIMPLY AWFUL!!! I should have known by the bad neighborhood, old run down building, and horrible parking that this place would be trouble. The 60+ yr. old waitresses (no joke) took 10 minutes to take my sushi order, and then 30 minutes to deliver it -on a slow Tuesday night! The sushi did not smell or taste very fresh, and it felt warm too -not a good sign for sushi. A 50+ yr. old male waiter kept shouting jokes about Viagra, which really offended my husband and I, and other patrons. Plus, the bathrooms were filthy & smelles very bad. And then to top it all off, they DEMANDED a 20% tip!!! For what? High priced bad food & bad service?! They actually added it to my bill without warning me -an illegal practice! I have never had such a miserable all around experience in my life at a sushi place. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!
