I have eaten at the Capparellis restaraunts since i was a kid. I personally know all of the capparellis since they first came to sa. in the 60`s. they brought with them a taste of italian foods that almost all texans have never had the pleasure of eating. I believe they were the first italian pizza parlors here. I have loved their food for over 45 years. Grandma and grandpa capparelli treated me as one of their own. I have seen with my own eyes the preparations and hard work they put forth to satisfy their customers. I have seen their traditions handed down to their children for 3 generations. Their food is without a doubt the best of Italian. I have come to realize that the bad reviews that I read some times about them is without a doubt the work of a jealous competitor. My favorite one was and will always be the capparellis on nacodoches rd. It then moved to broadway st. It is now owned by one of the sons named Guy, and run by his sons. I am 62 years old and went to school right down the street.
I cannot believe the construction that is going on around the capparelli restaraunt on broadway at this time. It is so difficult to get there and makes me so mad that I can`t get my favorite meatball sandwich. The last time that I was their Guy was being interviewed by the t.v.channels because of the damage being done to their buisness. I heard Mr.capparelli telling the news that he was suffering losses of over 65% and that it has even affected his personal life. My heart goes out to him and all of the Capparellis and I blame the city of san antonio for allowing this to happen. Grandma and grandpa capparelli brought a legacy to tx. and the city should not allow it to be distroyed. Bussinesses all over sa tx. are going out of business because of the construction going on and should be stopped. What good are fancy highways if when they are completed will have no businesses left. we stopped at capparellis on broadway last year during the frozen icy roads.we were stranded their for 3 hours.we got to meet the owners tina and guy.they treated us like kings.the food was so good.something i had never eaten befor.I was amazed at the kindness mr.capparelli extended to a homeless lady sitting outside in the freeezing weather.he brought hot food and drink to her and a sleeping bag.allowed her to spend the night in the restaraunt but she refused.what a heart this man has.we talked for hrs.and sampled so much food.it was the greatest experience of foof and kindness i have ever wittnessed.my wife and i thank god every day for people like mr.and mrs.guy capparelli.
