Mexican Food & Culture History

Restaurant Description

Uncle Julio's is committed to providing only the freshest and highest quality Border Style Mexican Food. With distinctive Hacienda decorating style, we created a unique restaurant concept around original recipes that demand only the freshest ingredients tailored after Uncle Julio's family tastes. Beyond tacos, enchiladas and tamales, Uncle Julio's specializes in marinated and mesquite grilled beef and chicken fajitas, ribs, quail, frog legs, and jumbo shrimp.

The first Uncle Julio's Fine Mexican Food Restaurant opened in Dallas, Texas in November 1986. Uncle Julio's popularity grew rapidly, and with it came an instant craze for a drink Uncle Julio's named The Swirl, which is a frozen concoction of layered margarita and home-made sangria. Uncle Julio's has grown to fourteen restaurants located in Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.

What planet are you people from? Uncle Julio's is the best food in Fort Worth! I don't eat their Tex Mex...why would you when they have the grilled Plato Gordo with fajitas, grilled shrimp diablo, succulent ribs - all dipped in garlic butter complete with beans, guacamole and rice. The Cadillac platter comes with some of the above plus luscious lobster. Pricey, yes, but the heavenly taste is worth it. A 1/2 hour wait in ANY restaurant would be great -- weekends at Julio's are more like 45-90 minutes between 7 & 8 pm. Drink a few swirls and you won't notice the time. I promise. Muy delicioso!!!!

Dinner tonight was the worst tex-mex I have had in 10 years: overly salted salsa; fajita beef was artifically tenderized and steam cooked;small portions for a $13.95 meal; pay extra for cheese and sour cream; poor service. BAD VALUE AND WORSE FOOD AND SERVICE.

Similar to the Chevy's chain, although the food was one step above. The ambiance was similar, I did not like the 1/2 hour wait. The wait staff did not understand the nuances of the food, but that could be attributed to the staff's age. More of a tourist stop, than a fine dining experience.
