I'm from San Diego, CA and visit Toledo on a regular basis. I was introduced to the Tandoor by my cousin for lunch. I have eaten Indian food from the east coast to the west coast and the Tandoor's cuisine holds it own among some of the best in this country. I would recommend the Tandoor to anyone I know. The food is Delicious and I know that sometimes the service may be slow , but this is true in most Indian restaurant's across our country. Problem partially being because of the fast paced life style of this is ours, where it is a more relaxed and enjoyable eating experience of the Indian culture. So the next time or, for your first time eating experience at the Tandoor, try to relax and enjoy the food and your dinning companions. I would recommend any dish on the menu, try the one that describes the ingredients that most suits your taste buds or, be adventurous and try something that sounds the most exotic, you just may be wonderfully surprised!

There are not many Indian\Pakistani restaurants in Toledo, but of the few, Tandoor is certainly the best. In my experience, it also holds up well against similar restaurants in NYC, Hiroshima, Tokyo, Rochester, and Ann Arbor in terms of tastiness. In the countless times I have dined here, I have never received anything that I would say was "bad" in terms of taste, and would especially recommend the coconut soup, korma dishes, tandoori chicken, and mattar paneer. Oh, their tea is delicious too.

The only problem I've had with the Tandoor over the years is the service. This has changed, however, quite dramatically and for the better in the last few years as a pair of girls have generally taken over the vast majority of serving. They are very nice and friendly, so if you have not been back to the Tandoor because of how you were treated, you might want to try again. :)
As someone else noted, they will generally not take your check up and no, I'm not sure why either... maybe it's related to the NYC practice of making customers ask for the check in the first place?

Decor... it's fine. The place is small, though they use mirrors to make it feel a bit larger, but overall the dark furniture and all give it a homey feel. Despite the small size, the place can accomodate large groups, and frequently does.

As for the lunch buffet- it's extremely limited, with only a few dishes available. These though are generally very good, and of course there's all-you-can-eat naan.

Overall, though, Tandoor is one of my favorite places for dinner, and one of my favorite Indian\Pakistani restaurants...world-round.

We eat at Tandoor once a month or so. Recently we used them to cater our son's graduation party. The food was super delicious, our guests loved it! (Even those unfamiliar with Indian food). The folks at Tandoor were easy to work with and very helpful. And the prices were fair...we highly recommend them.

I consider myself on of the luckiest people in Toledo because I live right down the street from Tandoor. Their food is amazing and needs to be tried by everyone. Try the Naan, Matter Paneer, Saag Paneer.

I've recently transitioned to a vegetarian diet, and my experience at Tandoor was far better when I ate meat. The food is good, but not great. I've tried a wide variety of dishes there, including appetizers, breads, and main courses. Nothing stands out. The decor looks old and faded - not many updates have been done in the past few years. The service is pretty good. Overall the restaurant is above average, but I would not recommend it.

I have 2 small kids and I wouldnt take there here, too small and intimate, if they were loud at all it would disturb others.
Have ordered meals and tikka masala great, tandoori good, the best is the buffet--and its cheap! I agree that the service can be slow and sometimes you have to go to them for requests/needs but I am also needy and do this in other places..........overall great, especially for Toledo where the "norm" is fake Italian, pizza and yucky chinese.

Of all the Indian restaurants I have dined at over the years, and all over the world (admittedly I have not yet been to India though), I must say that this is the best. I have never had anything that I would call 'bad' there (though make sure you order your food medium to hot unless you like bland). The restaurant itself is small but clean, and during dinner hours usually filled with a mixture of people, many from India, though I have never had to wait.
The only problem I have had with the place sometimes is the service, though this has improved in the last so many years. The biggest issue in the past was always the speed. Even now, it is not a place to go if you are in a hurry, though certainly the speed has improved since the first few visits there.
One note, when they give you the bill, unless you want to hang around and chat a while it's best to take it up to the bar. Generally they will not take it up for you...not sure why.

I especially recommend their kormas, tandoori chicken, vegetarian dishes, and their tea and coffee which they spice.

seems like they are using some heavy creams to make it tasty. It might be tasty but not healthy. Tastewise also it was not that great. This is not authentic Indian food. As compared to other Indian restaurants in this area this is better.

The best Indian food in the Toledo area, and a significantly lower-priced than other Indian restaurants of lesser quality in the area. Wait staff is also very courteous and attentive. A jewel!

The food is excellent and the people are great. It is a pleasure to have the option to have eastern cooking and not give up acceptable atmosphere to do so.
