We really wanted to like Sweet Potatoes. the atmosphere was great, our waiter was friendly and the owner even stopped by our table. Unfortunately the food was a near complete miss. We tried the restaurant on two occasions, hoping to try a wide variety of items. The best way to describe the food is almost. The mac and cheese appetizer was good in flavor but terribly dry; the fried green tomatoes and okra were awful. Store bought okra and flavorless tomatoes. The aoli was some kind of sauce just not an aoli. On our second visit we split a flavorless Caesar salad and I had the shrimp and crab casserole. If you have ever had a dish that shouldn't have been served, this was it. My friend had the mahi and black eyed peas; another almost. On the second visit we thought we would try dessert, only to be told they were out of lemon pie and ice cream. Knowing that the restaurant has been around for 6+ years, my suggestion to the owners would be to get re-focused on the food. They have clearly lost the passion.

My family and I can't eat here enough. Whenever we are in town we try to eat there at least once. The lemon ice cream and gingerbread is the best desert in the world. I have taken friends there from all over the world and they have loved this rest
