Restaurant Description

The bayou comes to North Carolina at Steak Street in High Port. Po' Boys, Voodoo Grilled Shrimp, and, of course, beef tantalize your taste buds with a Cajun flair. Steak Street is locally famous for its bourbon marinade and its nine cuts of prime/choice steak with custom fixings. Seafood and fish are also prominent on the menu, for patrons looking for lighter fare with options such as seafood jambalaya and shrimp and grits. Those with a sweet tooth can end their meal with a number of desserts, like bourbon bread pudding or a deep-fried tortilla filled with cheesecake and topped with caramel and chocolate sauces.

The dining area is located upstairs with a décor that makes patrons feel like they are dining al fresco. The outdoor theme intermixes and intertwines different geographical regions, for a comprehensive outdoor feel. Depending on where you are seated, you will feel like you are sitting outside in the French Quarter of New Orleans or along Old South Streets in Charleston, North Carolina. A subtle Mardi Gras flair floats throughout the restaurant, with a festive atmosphere.

Cooperstown Lounge, located within Steak Street, is filled to the brim with unique and authentic baseball memorabilia. Bar patrons can get in on the food action and satisfy their taste buds with a slider from the Burger Bar menu. Cooperstown Lounge is also a great stopping point for wine lovers. The extensive and award-winning wine list includes a rich offering of red, white, and sparkling wines by the glass, full bottle, and half bottle. If you can’t make up your mind, then a variety of wine flights are available.

New to Steak Street is the Bistro section of its Cooperstown lounge. This is a retractable area of the bar which is opened up on warm nights and can be closed quickly if inclement weather arrives. The Bistro has its own light fare menu, offered daily during happy hour time. The full Steak Street menu is also offered at all times in both the Bistro and Cooperstown lounge.

In addition to the Bistro, during summer months patrons can dine on the back patio. The patio is surrounded by lush vines, making for a quaint and quiet feel for diners. Special, soft lightning enhances the patio’s lush feel.

Steak Street offers live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. Soft and soulful music beats in the background as patrons dine. This "upscale casual" restaurant is appropriate for business lunches by day and romantic dinners by night. Give it a try and see if the Mardi Gras flair draws you in.

My wife and I went to dinner for our 15th wedding anniversary, and we were both most impressed. The staff was very friendly and inviting, and the waiter that we had was marvelous. I ordered the marinated rib-eye and my wife ordered the filet, and we are still arguing over which was better. As a person who really enjoys a great steak, and as one that has eaten steaks all over America, I have to say that the steak that I ate on Friday night was THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER EATEN! Our meal and experience was SO good, that we went back on Saturday, and everything was a repeat of the first night. As spectacular as the steaks were, the VooDoo shrimp deserve special praise as well. Absolutely succulent! We have found a new "special" place for a birthday, an anniversary, or a weekend meal.

I took my wife to Steak Street for Valentines Day and actually remember the other critic who left unhappy. He/she, like myself, did not have a reservation but a "call ahead." As the hostess explained, the dining room had been booked for three weeks prior, and the call aheads would get priority if anyone canceled. I actually felt sorry for her after the man made such a scene and told her he'll get over it!
Well, he's the loser, because my wife & I had such a wonderful night, on their award winning Bistro, that we've been back every weekend since for the live music and half price wine! It has become our favorite date spot and the servers now all know us & treat us like VIP! The cost is only a dollar or two more than the chophouse and the portions are much larger & quality far superior!
Now that I've eaten at STeak Street, I could never go back to Chophouse!

This food and service is spectactular! If you love a supurb fried oyster ceasar salad, look no further. This is the best, no question! Can't wait to go back when attending High Point Furn Market in April. Getting ready to make reservations right now!

Our first visit to Oso Tavern was an excellent experience. The waiter, Ricardo, was so helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant - the food is like no other. Looking forward to going again soon.

Stopped going to this restaurant for over a year because of a bad smell in the reception area. Went on Dec 17, 2010 and everything had changed! Clean, outstanding, friendly service, best sandwiches and homemade chips ever. Have loved Ham's for over ...

I just finished having an amazing meal with 6 of my friends at OSO Tavern in High Point. I can't remember the last time I've had a better time. Everyone's meals were exceptional and the service was terrific. I will definitely be back for more!

Oso's is my very favorite restaurant! We have dined there on many occasions and love the food and the staff. We took my son there for his 21st birthday and they made the experience very memorable for him. Special kudos to Wayne, the bartender.

On 2/16/2009, I took five couples for a nice and quiet meal at Stake Street. (We drove 26 miles to the restaurant). We do this as a group quite often. It was our St. Valentine’s Day celebration as a group. We don't mind the prices, if the food and service is worth it. This was not the case. The service was extremely poor. Knowing that some of the people on the party like their meat well cooked, I warned them about the disclaimer on the menu. After a dialogue about the meat cuts with the waiter, he advised to ignore the disclaimer and emphasized that the quality of the food is not sacrificed on well done steaks "regardless the cut thickness". Two stakes ordered well-done were served medium (1/2 red with blood dripping). A tuna ordered medium-well was mostly rare (more than 3/4 raw). They were out of two other cuts and brought substitute cuts without asking us first. They waited for us to inquire and then explained. The asparagus were cover on charcoal bits from the grill. The other stakes and sea food plates were fine. No refills (even water) were served or offered. No desert was offered. Everyone felt not welcomed and was extremely disappointed. None of us will visit again nor recommend this restaurant. Steak Street had a chance and didn't perform well.

I put in a reservation for this place for valenitnes day. We arrived and they said it will be a 45 minute wait, even with our 8:00 reservation. The hostess was rude and acted like we were stupid when we asked where we were on the list. Whne we finally were seated at 8:50, they put us in the "bistro". This is the tacky bar sl;ash lounge area where people wait to be seated and or drink and watch sports. NOT a romantic $20 a meal dinner date. We were so upset with this seating arrangment that we walked out and left.

So if you want to make reservations days in advanced and be put in the "lower dinning area" That isnt part of the regualr resturante then be my guest. We went to Chop House Grill which was FANTASTIC.

But Steak Street was farce.

Restaurant is over priced.I ordered a filet salad that was supposed to be cooked medium rare.Received it well done and waitor Chris seemed to NOT care.Manager came by to take plate off table and never spoke to us to see how everything was.Service is NOT FRIENDLY at all. This is one of the WORST restaurant I've been to in this area.Especially for a HIGH price meal.My favorite so far in that area on Hwy 68/EastChester is AQUARIA..Fantastic Service and Food with GREAT PRICES.AQUARIA IS THE BOMB!!!Try it..you won't be disappointed.

The ambience was nice but the service was slow. The steaks were overcooked to the point of being burnt and crispy, the salad was like eating leaves and the shrimp was average. In other words, if you want to pay $26.00 for a steak and salad go to TGIFridays or save some money and go to Golden Corral.

We stopped in on a whim since we had seen this restaurant for a while. We were pleasantly surprised and wish we had tried it sooner once we tasted the food. We enjoyed the calamari albeit had a bit too much lemon juice squeezed on it. Next time we'll ask them to hold off on it and do it ourselves. The rolls they brought out while we waited were great with the homemade garlic butter on it. The main course was a cowboy ribeye special and it was delicious too. Way better than the steak chains around like Outback and Texas Roadhouse. The price was a bit higher than we normally pay for a family of 5 ($75) for dinner but it was well worth the splurge and will definately return. Next time maybe we'll try the lobster tail as it looked great on their website.
