Yes, Spanky's has the hands-down best fried cheese ever. However, employees are not that attentive and kitchen staff doesn't appear highly motivated. The food tastes good, if you like things a bit greasy, as I sometimes do.
The restaurant is dark and crowded. It's amazing that no slightly inebriated patron has yet sued over a fall down the narrow, steep staircase to the upstairs eating area (where most of the seating is located). Spanky's makes only the most pitiful attempt at being accessible to folks with mobility issues. The narrow ramp from parking to the narrow walk in front of the door is steep. The door opens the wrong direction for anyone attempting to enter from the direction of the wheelchair ramp. That door also does not open enough for a person in a wheel chair to pass from the ramp to the entrance. Seating in the downstairs area is limited to four tables crowded together on either side of a narrow ramp that was cut into the floor from the ledge outside to the level of the main floor. Difficult, nay, hazardous navigation for people with mobility issues. Repeated attempts to bring these issues to the attention of management both informally and formally have been met with, at best, polite disinterest.
To the management I say - I guess when you're holding prime real-estate and have a constant flow of hormone-driven frat and sorority members you don't need to consider other clientele. In that case, you can let the place run down and take the patronage of past customers for granted. It was gratifying to notice that you finally remedied the "No creditcards or debit cards. Seriously." policy that had been in place while "the machine was broken" for about 6 months.
In summary, if I could find the cheese sticks anywhere else, I'd never come back to Spanky's.

Nothing in this world can compare to Spanky's Fried Cheese. Unlike any competitor, these cheese sticks are HUGE!!! Don't eat there without them!! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the experience can't be beat!!

Best burgers in town. Can get pretty busy during lunch, but still relatively quick. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but the bacon cheeseburger is my personal favorite.
