Hal-o-penos restaurant is very friendly, clean and good service. Their waitresses are always friendly and their margaritas are delicious.
My family and I have been going there for 10 + years. We are all now grown and married and live scattered around the valley, but we all still go to Hal's. Salsa is unbeatable. Love FUNDIDO! Chips are delish. Great prices! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I moved to the Phx area 20 years ago and Hal's has been my favorite place to go. I left the Phx area and now live in Colorado, but am coming back this week because Im craving the spinach enchilada with espinaca con caso sauce TO DIE FOR........ Hal here I come.
Love this place!! jose is doing a great job with the place
The food here is fabulous! They have the best Green Corn Tamales in Phoenix and a menu full of other great meals. Very casual, large satisfying portions and the best salsa and chips! Don't miss this one! We discovered Hal O Penos when we lived in the neighborhood 20 years ago. We now live in MN an...
Hal's as we know it has closed as of 12/16/12.
I do underrstand the sign on the door said they hoped to relocate soon. Oh please, oh please reopen. I love this place. Been going there for 15 yrs or more. Nothing compares. The staff was great, service great and the food amazing.
Please if anyone finds that they have relocated, post it here. I'd gone there for 17 years. No one has a better Pollo Fundito. The food and service were awesome
Hal's, please come back

I have been going to the Ajo Al's on 90th St in Scottsdale since it opened and had great service. The store on 16th and Camelback needs better bussers and bartenders. Most servers are friendly, but a few have an attitude that makes me feel like an obligation instead of a paying, frequent customer. T...
I agree with some of what others have said. I am a regular weekly customer of Ajo Al's and I love the food. The service at 16th St and Camelback needs work. What is sad is that they don't recognize you even though you go there at least once a week. I love the ambiance and service at the Peoria st...
I really enjoy good Mexican cuisine and was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Arriba's. The marguaritas were great and the food was not the standard bland "chain" restaurant food. My only regret is that we do not have an Arriba's where I live. If they did, it would be an instant success.
We have gone to the Phoenix Arriba for a year or so & do so on at least monthly basis. I am hooked on the Carne Adobada: best pork dish in town. Good chips; three sizes of Margaritas; three killer chip dips; and great chips make for a delightful experience.
We have been disappointed in the Arri...
This retaurant is the cleanest and the best tasting Mexican fast food. It tastes home made, and I am very picky about Mexican food, especially because I am of Mexican descent. I know what home made should taste like. Good value too.
I FIRST TRIED THEIR TACOS. THEY ARE THE SMALL ONES YOU FIND IN MEXICO AND WERE GOOD EXCEPT THE MEAT WAS OVERCOOKED. THE FRUIT SALAD WAS THE BEST I EVER HAD ANYWHERE AND THE STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM WAS TO DIE FOR. I THINK THEY BOTH ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
What's special about La Parilla is the grilled meats, Mexico City style. Steaks or chicken breasts are chopped and grilled with bacon and green pepper to stuff the tacos. Try the chicken melt (white cheese, flour tortilla, chicken, bacon, avocado and tomato) or the chorizo con queso (very unusual)...
Good portions, friendly staff, and clean restaurant.
This is more of a response geared towards the comments made by Ms. Ashley. The resturant is good but I find it hard to believe you have gone to it for years. I live a block away from it, and I can assure you, it has not been there for more than a year. Otherwise the food is great. Having lived in So...
