Luigi's is a small, hidden gem about a block from Rockford College. Our family decided to order pizza from them after reading reviews posted on Chowhound.com and we are happy we did. We ordered a large double cheese, sausage, pepperoni, olive, and green pepper pizza and it was ready to go in less than a half an hour. The aroma was wonderful and the taste was the best we have had in years. The crust is medium to thin (it could have been a little browner on the bottom, but it was tasty all the same), the peppers were still a little crunchy, the sauce was just right-not too acidic or sweet- and the meats were perfect. But the cheese made this pizza. Not lowfat, real honest to goodness mozzerella. We paid $17 as compared to over $20 at the chain restaurants so the price was great. The interior is in need of updating, but it is clean and the staff is very friendly.
No more chain pizzas for us---it will be Luigi's from now on. Ceetee

Great value in a nice environment. I LOVE their pizza, and the fact that they are open really late. The staff is friendly and the prices are great. Great tasting Italian food for almost half of what some places are asking
