The food is nothing to write home about, very mediocre quality. Service is usually so-so. We stopped going to Cheddars because often times the food wasn't prepared correctly or not fresh. Whenever server would send management over to address the situation, he apologized, but has *never offered any sort of restitution whatsoever. We try to be fair and cut some slack, but finally decided we are done with Cheddar's of Rockford.
Excellent food from the buffet or the menu. We eat there several times a week, Indian spices are antioxidents disguised as spices, so it is sooo healthy. They have inspired me to try my hand at Indian cooking. I love the appetizer menu as well.
I moved from Rockford (job) 26 years ago and still remember the early John's Pizza on 11th Street, even after moving my relatives left in Rockford still enjoyed John's Pizza. I have yet to taste any pizza that compares to John's in all these years. W

My wife and I always escape to Lucernes whenever we get alone time. We have been to every quality eatery within 50 miles of Rockford, and Lucernes is in the top 2. Don't change a thing!!

We recently moved to Rockford from the western suburbs of Chicago and have been trying restaurants we've never experienced. Cheddar's is far above the usual casual cafes/grills. Not considering the large portions given, the food preparation is definitely above a four-star rating. I don't think we'll ever get the opportunity to try any of their desserts, as the meals served have been so large we've had no alternative but to take home each unfinished meal! They also offer a "punch" card in which a free meal is provided after 10 visits. Their exceptional beer batter coating a dozen butterflied-shrimp for $9.99 with your choice of 2 sides (chosen from a list of 11 sides)cannot be beaten in taste or price anywhere. I applaud first the kitchen staff, then the management, and lastly, but importantly, the wait staff. They deserve kudos for providing an excellent, consistent dining experience. Why this restaurant chain has not yet entered into the Chicagoland area or the Virginia Beach area is a mystery.
