I have been going to Hilltop for about 3 years now, just because there is very few choices for dining in Monroe/ Wingate. Each time I keep hoping that the experience will get better, and I am disappointed each time. The food is uneventful and greasy, the waitstaff couldn't be more annoying and incompetent, and the owner seems to be happy counting the money and pretending he cares about you the customer and the product his kitchen delivers. The pricing for what you get is so not a bargain! Two of us were in for a chicken finger salad with water, and a dozen wings and a draft Yeungling, (which btw, was not even a full pint!), and after tip cost me $26!! It's sad, because I'm sure it was a great place at one time, but now it screams for new management and better, more realistic pricing. FYI, if you like Greek oregano, this is the place for you, because it is in EVERYTHING! How the seniors who visit this place on a weekly basis do it, I'll never understand. Just lack of competition, I guess.
Just another place to eat that should be better, but isn't.
For what it's worth, I have worked in the restaurant business (back of house) for over 30 years. It's time they sold the place and moved to Florida to enjoy the sunsets.

Three of us had dinner there this evening. One order was a grilled chicken sandwich platter, with some raw onion(onion slices were big enough for battered dipped onion rings)for $7.95, rubbery chicken. Another was Chicken Marsala for $12.95..same rubbery chicken and grilled Grouper sandwich platter for $8.95, which was very good. Very disappointed in a restaurant that is more obsessed with ambiance than serving a decent piece of chicken. Some of the food is a decent quality and the other is bottom of the barrel quality. Stay away from the chicken!!!

The fried food is greasy. The menu doesn't change. Sometimes the service is very good and on some days its terrible. If the service is bad, going to the owner/management to complain doesn't help. The restaurant is beautiful, but the food isn't the best.

I have been going to Hilltop for several years, but after the past two visits I will never go again, because of the way the owner treats his employees, on one occasion I heard him swear at one of his waitresses. An employer should never say these things to his employees. Why would anyone want to give this place their business knowing they treat their employees this way? It is disgusting and it is wrong. Those girls work for less than minimum wage and they work hard for what they do make...This man should be reported! WORST PLACE EVER!

Never seen a restaurant with so much versatility! They have breakfast, lunch & dinner. You can eat breakfast and lunch at very affordable prices but still have a nice quiet dinner with quality food and a beautiful atmosphere. Large portions at a good price and it is delicious. Can tell everything is made from scratch!

Absolutely loved it! Great food and a lot of it, very friendly servers, prices are very reasonable. Monroe's best restaurant by a mile!

By far then nicest restaurant in Monroe!! The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous and the food was delicious. We could tell everything was made from scratch, not like the typical franchise restaurant. Our server was very personable and gave great service. The best part is we thought we were done, but realized there was a sports bar downstairs. The place is three levels!! Loved it

These reviews on this page do not sound like the place i went to. We had an unfriendly staff, horrible greasy food and were not compensated for one of our dishes being incorrect. They did not even try to fix it, they just told us "we are so sorry" then walked away. Again, i only recommend this place if you are looking for a plate of grease.

I have dined here a few times & it was wonderful. They offer a large selection of food, great specials & buffets. It's now our favorite place to eat!

I would not be writing this if I was not insulted. On 3 occasions I have eaten at Hilltop and everytime I was there I felt that if I was not at least 55 or older, I was just a fly on the wall. I called in all 3 times to make reservations and when I arrived my name was not even on the list, but 3-4 elderly couples were ahead of me for my scheduled time. They say the third time is the charm, well in this case 3rd strike and I am out. I will never go back to this place again.
