Going to Goldmine can be hazardious. I don't think a health code inspector has been to goldmine in a few years or an inspector is getting paid off to pass the resturant. The cooks eat and drink where the food is perpared. Servers also eat in areas where, in my opinion, they should not be eating. The food is okay, I have had better. As far as the waitresses being friendly, it all depends who you get. If you get Mary Beth, you will get "fake" nice service. I find it condesending to call people "precious" all the time. She always adornes an "angry" smile for everyone, you know, the forced fake smile. The floors are dirty, in one spot it looks as if someone threw up and it dried. The seats have food in them. The restrooms smell of urine and the toilets are filthy. I was taught that any food item that is going to be served to a customer using gloved hands ot tongs. Neither the cooks nor the servers use them. Honestly, I will not take my family to Goldmine.

Terrific place with GREAT food! Kind of a throw back to the 50-s...family diner,...lots of old folks eat there as there are specials every night. Value and more bang for your buck. Want good food and not have to pay out the wazoo? Eat here...you will return for more.

If you don't care about atmosphere, but you love good ol' American food, you should love the Goldmine Restaurant on First St. in Garland. Wow! It is so good. Try the all-you-can-eat catfish on Saturday night and enjoy live music at the same time. The catfish is excellent - and so is the music by Tom Hall.
I've never eaten anything that wasn't excellent. My husband did find one thing that wasn't good - the fajitas. Don't go there!
If you don't like smoke, you might not like the restaurant. It still allows smoking and sometimes it is pretty smoky in there. The first time we visited, I thought I would never return because of the smoke. Then the food came and I decided it was too good to let a little smoke keep me away!!!

One of only a few restaurants in the area that has live entertainment (on Saturday nights). Wait staff is very friendly. Plenty of food, and they get it to you quickly. Check out music on Saturday nights; fun for everyone.

This place is one of the only restaurants that has live music on Saturday nights; something you wouldnt expect for a restaurant in this price range. And the music is top-notch, the best you will find anywhere. The food was pretty good and the waitresses were very friendly.

Wait Staff/Servers not so friendly, seemed bothered to do their job. Believe me, I do not like to make complaints and I wasn't having a bad day, either! But too much tension in the air, will not go back again!
