Duke's used to be one of the best little burger shops on the beach. We'd been going for years. No longer. Duke's is under "new management" and they've dropped their World famous fried calamari. Their food is decent, but the service is a bit surly and the "new management" just doesn't take care of the customer like the old Duke's. They've even dropped their book exchange (they used to have a book shelf in front, you'd leave a book and take a book to read on the beach. I go elsewhere now...
Asked at the front desk of the Quality Inn in Ventura about a beer and sandwich place. "Oh, Dukes!" I walked over and found a little bit of paradise. The locals were gregarious and the beer great - 12 oz or 32 oz drafts - and nothing in between. Everybody friendly and a really neat place. Enjoy!

Well, I heard about all of thier Fish sandwiches. I love fish, could not wait to go. But the Best Tasting fishes were fried. Like Cod & Pollock. The Tuna type fish they offer and the Mahi Mahi they offer are grilled. I only like baked of broiled fish. They will not do that.

We LOVED this place!!! My friend and I were on a roadtrip, and this was the perfect cliche California beach diner!!!! I would go back any day of the week!
Not only is the food excellent...the casual, California atmosphere and sawdust floors takes me back to the good old days when you received quality for your money. The onion rings are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I only wish there was a Duke's here in the Music City.

I like the restaraunt, its a nice place to hang out with your buddies. It's by the beach, and has a good beach surfer theme going on. Arcades are in the back room along with a jukebox. Arcades are pretty old, but still fun. Overall, their burgers are good. I like their zucchini sticks. yummy!
Living on the east coast (Washington, D.C.) I stumbled onto Duke's several years ago on an annual California escape. I've made it my business to enjoy one of Duke's burgers and California casual atmosphere many times since.
Come to the National Capital aea if you want bad burgers, lousy service and wussy political types.
I'll take Duke's anytime.

Excellent Fish Burgers, dishes. Very bad hamburgers. Sawdust covered floors, pool tables, air hockey. Nice outdoor patio area. Close to beach.
