Made a wrong turn while driving my son from his college in Buffalo back to New York. Our car seemed to be literally beckoned to this gem of a German restaurant in Syracuse. Incredible and fantastic dining experience. Rivaled some of the great German restaurants in Milwaukee.Varied, large menu. Scrumptious meals and deserts. Specialty sandwich was out of this world. One of the best reataurants I have ever frequented. Definitely worth the wrong turn.

How lucky for Danzer's that Syracuse has so few people who've actually been to Germany. And how fortunate for them that Syracuseans expect German food to be greasy, bland overpriced crap with applesauce on top. I guess in a place like this, maybe Danzer's really can't fail.
I can tell you this much: I will never again eat there, and if I had my way, this sausage hole would be run out of town. I'm used to Germans who take pride in preparing their foods with top ingredients, and in a manner to best accentuate the quality of those ingredients.
That's why the following is absolutely unforgivable:
I was brought a rubbery, greasy and damp weirnerschnitzel, made of an inferior cut of pork. I could not believe that anyone could make a weinerschitzel with such terrible consistency, breading and texture. It was like an autopsy at my table. At first I thought it just sat too long on the plate before it was delivered. But then I realized something far more sinister. You see, parts of the schnitzel were warm, but the middle was completely cold. That's when hit me, to my complete horror, that my schitzel had been microwaved.
You heard right. Danzers fries up their schnitzels (proabably) days before they're served, and nuke them in the microwave before serving.
DANZER'S MICROWAVES WEINERSCHNITZELS!!!
Please pass this on to all the German people that you know. Danzer's has no respect for the diners of Syracuse, and frankly, we have no need for them.
I recently ate here with my family my waiter was spaced out seemed to be more interested in socializing with the waitresses he worked with than tending to our needs. The staff seemed poorly trained unprofessional and rude. The food was overcooked and

I really love this place. I passed it a couple times going home a different route and decided to stop one time. So glad I did. Big portions and yummy food! Try the "Original Hamlet"!! YUM!
