About Corner Kitchen
Owners Kevin Westmoreland and Chef Joe Scully will provide a wonderfully unique experience featuring the very best in food and service in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The Corner Kitchen is the perfect place for a family meal (with a complete Kid's Menu), a business meeting (private rooms and Wi-Fi equipped), or a great place to relax and soak in the beauty of Historic Biltmore Village.
Our Home
The day we opened the Corner Kitchen the house was one hundred and eight years old. George Washington Vanderbilt came to Asheville in the late 1880's and bought the 72 acres that ultimately became Biltmore Village.Vanderbilt conceived of the area as a "town center" to support his self-sufficient estate. Richard Morris Hunt, the architect for the Biltmore House, designed four of the original Village buildings, All Souls Church, the Railway Station, The Biltmore Company offices and the Post Office. After Hunt's death, the job of completing the houses and shops was left to Richard Sharpe Smith who was Hunt's on-site architect. The street plan and landscape design of the Village was executed by Frederick Law Olmsted (Designer of New York's Central Park). Initially, the homes were rental units for many of the Estate workers. This house was occupied first by the Waddell Family, who were the parents of one of the Estate's engineers.Since early times this house has been associated with food. In the 1930's, Charles Jennings occupied the house and started a restaurant known as "The Biltmore Café," which evolved into the now-famous "Hot Shot." For most of the last twenty years 3 Boston Way has been operated as a restaurant.
We love the beauty and warmth of these lovely homes so carefully designed and built over a century ago.
