I have been eating here since it opened. I still eat here just not as much as I used to. the food seems to be not as good as it used to be I used to love the Country Steak, but now can do without it. Its like everything else once doing good they start to tweak it to make more money and take away from the final product. Sad but a sign of the times. All about the dollar.

I have eaten at this cafeteria numerous times since it opened and I find that the food is not as good as it used to be, prices have gone up and the same food is on the menu all the time. It's time they at least changed their menu up from time to time.
I have been dining at Burger Cafe during my lunch breaks for a few years now. It's a small, family-run, local business. They have never let me down. They cook to order, when you order, and fast. Some of my favorites are the black bean burger, the Tha

Stopped for breakfast on April 17. I used to go to the Happy Hill in late 80's for SoCon basketball tourney. I'm so glad to see it reopened. Great grub for a reasonable price.
This place is a hidden treasure! Both my husband and I had German Grandmothers. Walking into this restaurant was like going back to Grandmas kitchen - it smelled exactly the same. The warm, homey atmosphere was only surpassed by the excellent, aut

We dropped by, just on a lark, to try something new. We were delighted with the offerings, the taste of our food, and the restaurant. Our only disappointment was that the wings are not offered in any serving smaller than 10 wings. I am a gastric-b

Excellent food and service at a reasonable price.Best desserts I have found anywhere. Only problem I had was no one spoke English. They could not understand what I was requesting.
a diner from Dallas
I live almost a thousand miles from Asheville. Coming up is my sixth experience with the J&S. I'm planning an August solo driving trip from Dallas to Atlantic City, and will drive 100 miles out of my way to stay over in Asheville and eat twice at the J&S. The most wonderful chicken pie. We had chicken pie this good every Wednesday when I was in a Dallas elementary school - for a nickel. 70 years later it's not a nickel at the J&S but it sure' is worth the trip. Other pastries are superb, too. Good fresh vegetables.
