I grew up in NH and lived right down the street from Clam Haven. They were usually open from April through October and I looked forward to winter being over so I could get my fried seafood fix! I now live in Florida and only get to visit Clam Haven once a year...it is still worth the trip. White, flaky haddock, perfectly breaded and lightly fried is to die for. The scallops are sweet and large. Their onion rings are battered, not breaded, with a crispy and almost chewy golden coating...an onion's equivilent of corn dog batter. And their clams are sweet and tender...big, fat juicy bellies and all. The atmophere is typcal New England clam shack...rustic and simple. You order and pay for your food at one window; drinks and ce cream at another..then wait for your number to be called to get your food. Eating in consists of paper trays and plastic forks under the cover of a rustic screen house. With the exeption of skyrocketing prices...I remember a tip to Clam Haven being cheap!...the food is fantastic and the experience worth the trip.
