"Unaccomodating" and Mediocre come to mind.
Having eaten there five previous occassions, but it had been a while since going there, I wanted something different. While the food, which the exception of one unremarkable breakfast, has been novel, the portions have always been small.
Previously, I took in my own large water bottle of water from home that I filtered myself without any problme--even when the owner herslf had served me! But this time I was blocked. As a body builder and suffering from a major medical condition, I never drink Anchorage's water. I carry my water bottle everywhere--even the bars don't object. I tip and I buy other beverages and all everywhere.
Moreover, I bought another beverage with each of my meals at Cafe Amsterdam anyway. Sometimes juice, sometimes cappucino but this time I was refused by the girl at the door and then by the owner herself.
I did not even try to remind her of the many times she had allowed me in with my water bottle herself! Nor, did I have any chance to tell her I planned upon buying a beverage!
But, I will never go back there. Certainly, they have a fine beer selection but I don't drink.
However, the impoverished portions of food on the plate informs me the owner has a problem. I have not left here satisified because portions are ridiculously small. It' s all about presentation and posing.
