Restaurant Description

Over the last 10 years the Far West Village and the Meatpacking District have taken on a life of their own. With new boutique, gallery and restaurant openings weekly, it appears that the charm that attracted people in the first place will be lost. 5 Ninth will preserve that charm in the refurbishment and design of this rare classic: a freestanding 3-story brownstone, built circa 1848, with six fireplaces and a beautiful garden.

Stylish comfort and accessibility are the key ingredients to the 5 Ninth formula, which will give patrons a variety of experience to choose from.

By stepping into 5 Ninth you begin to feel the history of the neighborhood. With exposed brick, wood beams in the ceiling, and two fireplaces on each floor, this structure has built-in romance. On the first level, in the center of the room, encased by fireplaces, is the bar. At the entrance, banquets flow outwards towards the other end of the room, where a glass wall slides open to reveal a breathtaking garden with ivy covered walls. Fieldstones laid into the ground complete the 19th century feel of the house. A floating staircase leads to a dining experience on the second floor, which is decorated in lighter wood tones, and washed brick.

Easily transformed, the room is a breezy brunch spot that becomes a romantic dining room for dinner or late night fare. For the brunch crowd, an impressive variety of menu choices will be available. For dinner, the menu will feature innovative twists on international flavors. When done patrons can meander back to the first floor bar area, or ascend the stairs to the third floor and find themselves in a stylish and sophisticated room.

5 Ninth brings to mind all that is perfect about the restaurant scene in New York. Tireless professionals who know what people want, offering a variety of experiences to a crowd that is constantly searching for new excitement.

Burgers are out of this world. Bleu cheese and bacon my favorite. Pretty big and not the usual midtown ripoff.

Finally a fun place in the neighborhood. Loud music and fun bartenders unlike the usual midtown irish bars. Even saw a girl dancing on the bar last week.
