This is an unpretentious Japanese restaurant, with a Japanese owner who knows how to deliver authentic food at a reasonable price. There are also some surprises, like noodle dish Chanpon. Get there before 6 for the cheap happy hour menu.

we usually drive about 20 to 30 minutes to get sushi but drove by this place on our way home and decided to try it,glad we did! Much cheaper than scottsdale and great fresh taste!

I used to live right near Hana Sushi and went there at least once a month. Definitely my favorite sushi place in the whole valley. Fresh delicious rolls, always. I think they have the best California Roll of any sushi bar I've been to, and their signature roll is my favorite. Nice quiet well lit atm...
Great food and the sushi is really fresh. I don't really like fish but I eat sushi here and enjoy it! The service is good but the understanding of English , a little off unless you have a good Englsh speaking Asian waitress or sushi chef. Its fun to sit at the sushi bar and watch. If you like japane...
Absolutely beautiful ambience. Food was superb! My husband and I plan on trying to return every weekend! Kampai, by far, serves the best sushi we've had as of yet!!
Oh MY gosh!! This sushi was soooo good. I got take out on a Saturday night. It took about 45 minutes and was fantastic: fresh, flavorful and beautiful. Will definitely go again.
this place is highly underrated.... sushi is excellent with the best wasabi and the sushi chefs are highly skilled and proficient. try the house saki.....
best sushi in the valley...... not trendy but they get the job done.....very traditional presentation with excellent service. sushi chefs are very accommodating and anxious to please. been eating here regularly for over a year and cannot find comparable sushi anywhere else in valley..........
There IS NO BETTER sushi in the valley. I've tried everywhere and I always complain when i'm somewhere else saying "how spoiled I am from going to Kampai all the time" The sushi is succulent and fresh... and the sashimi salmon melts in your mouth like butter. I will go no where else for...
This is the Best of the Best. You can't get any better sushi in Arizona. I love Kampai. It's worth every penny. And if you have to wait it's also worth the time.
I have been eating sushi here since 1997. I lived in Yokohama Japan for 4 years and Kampai Sushi is the best Japanese in all of Arizona! I would recommend this place as a first choice!
We love Kampai! and have been going there for at least 2 years. I almost hate to spread the word because I want them to myself, but Kampai is the best we've had in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area (and I used to live in Manhattan where there is great sushi everywhere). The ambiance is easy yet still ha...

Best combination lunch deals! California roll and teriaki chicken or tempura/chicken for under $6. Includes a big salad, miso soup and green tea. Quality is excellent, but come early or late, at noon it's packed!

I have been frequenting your 59th ave & 101 location since they opened. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences there. I just went to the I-10 & Elliot location last night and I will never be back. The service was poor at best. The wait staff certainly lacks the charm of the west valley loca...

I regret that this was not one of my favorite sushi experiences. This restaurant was recommended by a friend but my husband and I were disappointed. The service was clumsy and cluttered, the Maguro was still slightly frozen, the shrimp tempura in our shrimp tempura roll was cold - a sign that it was...

Wonderful food. The place is a little dark and very crowded, but the food is very good, very fresh. Excellent Sushi. One draw back is that the portions are pretty small.

We go to this restaurant every single week, along with several other regulars that are always there. Yes, it's a bit crowded but that's because the food is great. The wait staff is wonderful and the sushi chefs are among the best. If you don't want to wait, get there for the first seating at 5:30...

I love Sakana- the service is always wonderful and the staff is very friendly. I've gone to many sushi restaurants and this place has the best California roll! The food is always fresh!
The kimchee and the pork bulkogi were good, the beef bulkogi and the kimchee chigae were passable, but lacked from a great Korean dining experience. The beef teriyaki was tough and lacked flavor. Not the best Korean food in the valley, but will do in a pinch. The kimchee really was good. As for the...
