We love Kampai! and have been going there for at least 2 years. I almost hate to spread the word because I want them to myself, but Kampai is the best we've had in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area (and I used to live in Manhattan where there is great sushi everywhere). The ambiance is easy yet still has a genuine feel, can be a little nicer or not depending on what mood you're in. The only "4 star" I give Kampai is for being not so kid friendly, but that isn't bad, they still accommodate when we venture to bring our 7 month old with us! They are in a very unlikely spot, which I think keeps the snobs away! Love them and hope they never have to leave.

I have been eating sushi here since 1997. I lived in Yokohama Japan for 4 years and Kampai Sushi is the best Japanese in all of Arizona! I would recommend this place as a first choice!

I used to live right near Hana Sushi and went there at least once a month. Definitely my favorite sushi place in the whole valley. Fresh delicious rolls, always. I think they have the best California Roll of any sushi bar I've been to, and their sign ...

The family atmosphere of this place is great! Many repeat Korean customers should tell you this place is authentic and good! The hostess Miss Kim is very attentive. Food is always fresh and nicely prepared. The pricing is very affordable ($10-$15). S ...

we usually drive about 20 to 30 minutes to get sushi but drove by this place on our way home and decided to try it,glad we did! Much cheaper than scottsdale and great fresh taste!

This is an unpretentious Japanese restaurant, with a Japanese owner who knows how to deliver authentic food at a reasonable price. There are also some surprises, like noodle dish Chanpon. Get there before 6 for the cheap happy hour menu.

The kimchee and the pork bulkogi were good, the beef bulkogi and the kimchee chigae were passable, but lacked from a great Korean dining experience. The beef teriyaki was tough and lacked flavor. Not the best Korean food in the valley, but will do in ...

This is the Best of the Best. You can't get any better sushi in Arizona. I love Kampai. It's worth every penny. And if you have to wait it's also worth the time.

There IS NO BETTER sushi in the valley. I've tried everywhere and I always complain when i'm somewhere else saying "how spoiled I am from going to Kampai all the time"

The sushi is succulent and fresh...

and the sashimi salmon melts in your mouth like butter.

I will go no where else for sushi now, I will make the drive from downtown phoenix for the quality.

my compliments to the chefs and owners

Oh MY gosh!! This sushi was soooo good. I got take out on a Saturday night. It took about 45 minutes and was fantastic: fresh, flavorful and beautiful. Will definitely go again.

Absolutely beautiful ambience. Food was superb! My husband and I plan on trying to return every weekend! Kampai, by far, serves the best sushi we've had as of yet!!

Great food and the sushi is really fresh. I don't really like fish but I eat sushi here and enjoy it! The service is good but the understanding of English , a little off unless you have a good Englsh speaking Asian waitress or sushi chef. Its fun to sit at the sushi bar and watch. If you like japanese ffod, this is a great place. Don't forget to try their green tea!
