About Ranch Hand Cafe

The staff of Ranch Hand Cafe welcome you to Cleveland and we hope you enjoy your visit and your meal.

We opened the Ranch Hand Cafe February 9, 2004 with great anticipation, hoping and praying that Tarkington Prairie was the place to be. The first two hours proved it was!

Now, more than four years of success has gone by a we are about to begin expansion - adding a new dining room, bathroom and kitchen!

Our hats off to you, our loyal customers for voting us "Best of East Texas" three years running! We promise to continue providing great food and service a place you can be proud to bring your friends!
Here's to another great year!

So 2 yrs ago I got sick of the waitresses here being so rude so I quit going. Last week I went with a group of friends from work against my best judgement. Again very rude rude waitresses. So this week took my daughter only because it was close. The waitress yelled at us when I eyeballed her for leaving us sitting in wait for a menu for 12 minutes and waited on 2 men as soon as they walked in. Then it took forever for food to come, had to get our own to go box and never got dessert that should have come with special even though we asked. So upon leaving I told owner who dismissed me and said they were out of all desserts for Special..at 12:45..really? How bout compensating me somehow..No..You will never see me again and I will tell everyone I know not to go there.

We are lucky enough to live only a few miles from the Ranch Hand. The food is always cooked fresh to order, everything is homemade even the croutons on the salad. Our favs include chicken fried steak, catfish, hamburger steak smothered in onion gravy, shrimps and hamburgers to mention a few. Everything is delicious. The prices are a bit higher than you'd expect to pay (most $10 up)but we think it worth it because the quality is great and the portions are HUGE!(expect to need a doggie bag) The large chicken fried steak is bigger than a styrofome take away box. They do have a lunch special M-F that are very reasonable. Last but not least, I must encourage you to get the sweet tea. The best tea in Texas!! I usually get water but not when I eat there.

The Ranch Hand is our favorite restaurant in the Cleveland area. The food is excellent, the prices are very resonable, and the service is great. One of our favorites is the chicken fried steak. My wife says the catfish is good too. This is great food at a great price... my wife and I give it two thumbs up!

Truly a great dining experience! My wife and I had heard of the Ranch Hand Cafe and were traveling through Cleveland on 3-6-09. We decided to check it out for lunch. They were in the middle of expanding the facility but we easily overlooked the construction as we enjoyed a fabulous meal. There were no skimpy portions and everything was the good, old-fashioned, homecooked meal just as advertised. Definitely a 5-Star experience!

If you want the best Homestyle Country Cooking in Texas this is the place to visit! Having heard about the Ranch Hand for several years, but had not visited it since it was only opened on weekdays, I was glad to hear it was now opened on Saturdays. We drove over an hour to visit the place.

It did not dissapoint! Helpings have to be seen to be believed (make sure to check out what other people are getting - it was half the fun seeing the hugh plates of food). The chicken fried steak was to die for!

It was so good we are going back this Saturday with some friends. Yes, we are driving over an hour again to eat here....something me and my husband have NEVER done. In fact, we are going here for Valentines instead of our usual trip to Perry's Steak House :)

This place is truly one of those "hole in wall" country restaurants that is a true diamond!

Captain R Seafood is a good family cafe. My wife likes the trout and the catfish, I like the hamburgers and fries. It's not fancy, but it is good and reasonable. The service is good too.

This is a very 'biker friendly' establishment. We have been there twice and received excellent service. The food is your typical road side fare (burgers, fries, and such) but much better than the 'fast food' chains. T

I had an encounter with your restaurant yest. and the person that said she was the manager. Your prices were changed for a combo #1 whopper to $4.99 (w/o tax) and the combo #12 mustard whopper (w/o tax) is still $4.69 in
