Italian Food & Culture History

Restaurant Description

In the early 1900's in the Salumeria's of Little Italy, Patsy Lacieri perfected "Neopolitan Style Pizza." In 1933 he opened the city's first Pizzeria Restaurant on 118th Street and 1st Avenue. Establishing himself as New York's foremost pizza baker and inspiring scores of imitators. As the first Pizzeria in the US to sell slices, Patsy's was a place so well liked that people like Frank Sinatra would go out of their way just to get there. Over 70 years later, Patsy's Pizzerias still proudly serve his famous recipe "old world" style pizza. For all those not familiar with our pizza, please know that our pizza is "true" brick oven pizza, "coal fired" and made with all the love and care that our ancestors used many years ago in Italy. Cooked at very high temperatures, close to 900 degrees -- it comes to your table hot, crisp and with all the smokiness that only coal ovens can bring. This gives our pizza a unique flavor that we are sure you will enjoy.
