The service here is slow and sporadic at best, due to the fact that it is a one man kitchen and a very small restaurant. However, the food makes it all worth the wait. YOur best bet is to get there before opening, otherwise you'll have to wait for them to turn over all the tables at least one time before you are seated. We've been here many times and have never had a bad dish. The portions are tremendous (you will take home left overs) and the prices make it a great value. The homemade sauces and breads are incredible. So, as long as you enter prepared for the slow service, you'll enjoy a fantastic meal.
We look forward to returning to this quiet gem! Selected for its proximity to the National Zoo, we would return simply to enjoy the food and atmosphere. All this at a reasonable price -- a rare combination in D.C.
This place is the BEST! I come here for happy hour with colleagues during the week bc they have complimentary hors d'oeuvres and great drink specials (plus beautiful outdoor seating when the weather permits)...AND now I just found out they do live Op
