Love the food have been there many times, bit beware when using a credit card as some of the waiters will change/up the tip that you leave, I may not have noticed if I hadnt used my debit card which we always check the receipts, I called the restaurant and kept getting the answering machine, left my info but with no return call. Very dissapointing!!! Dont think I will go back now

The prices alone are a reason to stay away from this restaurant, in comparison to the food quality offered. The strangest-tasting Miso soup on the planet, as well as the smallest and not well-prepared Gyoza I have ever had as an appetizer. The sushi was adequate at best, and with a single standard combo serving starting at $20 (and up) the price does not match the quality, despite the somewhat nice atmosphere in the sushi bar area, overlooking a bit of nature. However, the dirtiest glass on record for a Japanese beer didn't make matters any better (as well as the $6.50 price for a 22oz. Sapporo.)

The food was fresh and overall pretty tasty. However, they drowned most of it in sauces which was not needed. The amounts were huge which made up for the prices. Our waitress did not speak English which made it very difficult to order. I had to get the hostess to help because our orders were getting messed up. The chef was not entertaining at all. Other tables had awesome chef's who did lots of tricks and showmanship. If you go, pray you don't get ours. We did not have a good time and will not go back.

Mikata was great. We've been to Japanes Steakhouses that were more lively/entertaining (particularly on the south shore of Montreal), but the food was great, the portions were large and service was better than average. More of an event than just "a dinner." Give it a try.

The Mikata is my favorite Japanese steakhouses in this area. The food is tasty and the chefs are wonderful with children. And while the restaurant isn't cheap, I think that it offers a better value than some of the other Japanese steakhouses in the area. For example, you get ice cream with your meal and there are free refills on soda. I think the restaurant is a little more generous with its portions, too. If you're looking for a fun evening out with the kids, check out the Mikata.

Not very authentic. To start with the menus were stained and torn; not a good sign. Service was very spotty by the waitress. The chef was friendly and did an okay job. They drown the food in sauces, it's edible - but not very healthy. The Japanese are known for their wonderful healthy food which this was not. Overpriced. There are alternatives which are much better.
