Every time I go there, all I can say is the experience is excellent and the food to die for.
It's a 60 mile trip, one way,
and even with the price of gas it is worth it.

Our group, Club 56, all grads of an all-girls high school in Detroit, enjoyed a lovely luncheon on a warm summer day. Food, service and management were very satisfying. The afternoon was especially nostalgic as we recalled that the restaurant, under a different name in the mid-1950's, was a favorite after-prom dinner spot for many classmates and their dates. We will return!

Once we got past the thick smell of cigarette smoke upon entering, things got better. The food's good and plentiful and the many pictures of pleasure boats gives the place a clubby atmosphere.

The food was absolutely horrendous! Neither my husband or I enjoyed much of anything on our plate. I've heard bad things about this restaurant before, but decided to give it a try. Now I understand why people feel the way they do. On a positive note, ...

My wife and I saw their daily specials in the paper and decided to stop in for prime rib. Excellent value! 2 prime rib dinners, a bottle of wine and dessert was less than $50! Listening to the piano was a nice touch too. We've noticed the new improvements with the lounge area; much better than before! Staff is very helpful and friendly. We'll definitely be back very soon and recommend it to everyone. Keep up the great work

I come in for dinner every couple of months and every time I'm there I see new improvements taking place with the menu and decor. We like the new table cloths, the other ones had to go. Food quality is great and the prices are extremely reasonable, considering it's a waterfront property. Staff is very nice. Pizzas have always been good but now they're excellent and very filling. I'll be back soon to enjoy the prime rib.

Had dinner there tonight and was surprised by how good it was. Hadn't been there in a while but had a 2 for 1 coupon and decided to go. They had a new menu with an excellent apple walnut salad. I would definitely recommend the rice pilaf with dried cranberries. The perch was a little dry but the price was good for a half pound. I will definitely go back.

The river view is great, it takes the focus off the stained floors and dirty ceilings, the silk palm trees are infested with who knows what.
I pray the kitchen is cleaner than the dining room.
If I go back, I'll pack a lunch !!

I love this restaurant. It is absolutely amazing. The food is always great, as I've been there on numerous occasions. I love the hamburgers, and the great american burger and the portobello mushroom burger are my absolute favorite. The service is also great. The view of the river is exactly how it should be and it's nice to see the Ferries go by!

I have been to the Big River Grill on two occassions. One of the best features of the restaurant is the river view. Unlike some of the other waterfront restaurants in the area, particularly in St. Clair and Marysville, the Big River has a scenic view, rather than a view of industrial factories and refineries. The inside of the restaurant is understated, but spacious.

Our party started with the spinach and artichoke dip. It was creamy, cheesy, and delicious. Next, I had the Chicken Cordon Bleau rollup. The serving size was large, and it was flavorful. One of my dining partners had a burger. It was dry and bland. I think they use the frozen patties you find at Sam's Club. The other dining partner had the fish chips. It was your average, run-of-the mill variety.

Overall, both experiences were good in a casual and understated setting. The food is generally good. Just be sure to stay away from the burgers!

I have been to all of Bobs Resturants McRaes is the best My family and I use to go to Bobby Macs a couple years ago but choose not to go in there anymore. The service and the mangement are not the same and not warm and friendly like it use to be. But hat's off to Bob and Dennis Beard.

I had a nice lunch/meeting here yesterday. Great place to eat, meet and enjoy the river view. The only thing I see this place lacks is better docking facilities. Once the docks and pilons are reworked I would love to return by boat. Let me know when/if you plan on updating them.

Actually we had found the Big River quite serendipitously. We had been big fans of the Stoney Creek Road House and especially enjoyed the piano player there Jim Bajor. We went there last week to eat and Jim wasn't there. We were told that he was at the Big River Grill in Algonac. We decided that that would be a very plesant Summer drive. So we drove to Algonac and much to our surpise we found this wonderful restaurant. It is a placed in a beautiful setting on the St. Clair River. It has a Jamaican theme , the staff is very friendly and the food is absolutely excellent. What a find. We would reccoommend this restaurant to our friends, and oh yes the piano music of Jim Bajor is magnificent. This restaurant is a real winner.

What a wonderful restaurant. I am familiar with Bob's other restaurant "The Stoney Creek Roadhouse" in Shelby Township and it is also wonderful. The food was great the night my wife and I visited. The view of the River fantastic and the piano player was absolutely magnificent. His name was Jim and he was on a par with people we had seen in New York. This restaurant is first class all the way. Way to go Bob.

Food, service, view wonderful! I'm there at least twice a month. The building itself could use a serious professional renovation, but even a spruce up would help, (carpet, tables, chairs, windows, removing old ledge in front room)
