I graduated from Springfield High School in 1943 and had lunch with many friends at this maid-rite. As I just read they cost .15 cents and you got a free small root beer. I have even had them send me sandwiched here to Denver. I will never forget this Maid-Rite and go there every time I get to Springfield.

The are the worlds best sandwich ever, I love them and have had them delivered to California. I go there as much as I can when I am in Springfield, Illinois visiting. The owner is very nice and remembered me for the out of state order. I have their Tee shirt too.

I want a Maid Rite now, but I have moved to
Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am from Springfield, Il. went to Springfield High School. The Maid Rite is a wonderful memory for me.

The food is so-so - the atmosphere is dated - and they charge for refills of tea and soda... No place else is sooooo cheap to do that.... Palermo's / Pasta House / Mario's is better choices to go!
I work near the Monty's in the Montvale Plaza and have their sub sandwiches for lunch sometimes 3 times a week. They have great choices and a very polite and helpful staff. I would recommend these subs to anyone.
This is the best restaurant in springfield Il to eat at. The owner and family are very nice people and the walleye is very delicious. I would eat at this restaurant before I would eat anywhere else when I lived there. You have try it for yourself ...
Shepardo's has the best pizza in Springfield.
So it's the best bbq I've ever had. If you want good soul food here's where you'll find it. It may not be in the best location or look like a good place to get food but it is a diamond in the rough!! Try the BBQ Beef Tips dinner with greens and baked ...

This is the 1st drive thru in the US. Opened in 1921 in Springfield IL. You can enjoy a loose meat burger with home made root beer! yummy! They are still in the original building and the original 1921 booths, they are a little small but part of a great history. I have been enjoying these for 38 years. My Grandmother used to talk about walking to Maid Rite for lunch and you could get a burger and rootbeer for .15, now you will pay about 3.50 for a burger and drink. Get 2 maids they are on the small side but they are very tasty!
