i always have a lovely time at luigi's. some of the best italian food in northern RI. my favorite is the chicken parmesan with pasta. but i also love their penne and pink vodka sauce. their chicken escarole soup is the best! their desserts are always great, especially their cheesecakes. i also enjoy gong to the gourmet express takeout for lunch sometimes when i'm in the area. they have great sandwiches and these things called tortes like a stuffed pizza. i definitely recommend this restaurant.

Recently Dec 29th Christmas show 2008, we were treated by our children for a comedy night in Johnston RI at Luigi's. GREAT COMEDY FOR SURE! When it came to the quality of the meal, the soup was good. Then the family size large clear plastic bowl of penne with pre-mixed sauce, which was a cross between plain can of hunts tomato sauce and canned tomato soup! ITALIAN flavored? simmered GRAVY? SAUCE? NOT! OK, bring on the hand prepared veal parmagean, please. What we got was a food service delivered pre made paper thin veal a la viener schnitzel with a pasty, thick coated, corn-meal breaded veal, obviously made earlier a day before, or prefrozen, hardedned edges from long refrigeration. TASTY? NOT! Bland, bland, bland. More of the hunts sauce and tomato soup style sauce/gravy schtick... good for the juvenile palate. Green Beans? GREAT! So, I had soup and greenbeans that were good, and the Christmas Show. Why would they not have a sophisticated tasty meal to go with the very good adult entertainment? Husband's remark: lipstick on glass, meat sent back as meat so hard, it was like cutting through bone. It was fakery at its best, and not high end meal. He felt like he was being fed a kiddie meal. His flatware had to be sent back. BATHROOMS CLEAN...(hooray)... but not a place to come back to, or tell Chef Gordon Ramsey about. Egads, NO !
My husband and I ate here after a friend and I had lunch here and enjoyed the ribs enormously. Although service was a tad slower the second visit, the ribs and calamari with peppers was delicious and perfectly cooked. We are going there again, taking

The food is always great and has been that way for years, The service is friendly, you have to remember it is a small family run business but that is what also makes it special.
The very Best Italian food I have found in RI. The food is so incredible, I cannot stress how incredible the food is. I had Lobster Ravioli in a pink Alfredo sauce, oh my. I was in heaven.
My companion ordered a veal dish, which I tasted....the vea

On May 23rd 2008 I went to Luigi's Express and picked out the usual, half chicken with two sides or a "Complete Dinner" as my receipt indicates. It cost me a whopping $8.99 !!!! I used to pay $5.99 for the same dinner until they decided to get all high class with their renovations!
I get back to my office and open the "Complete Dinner" only to find that my half chicken is burnt and really greasy, there where ONLY 3 tiny 1" potatoes and about 3 tiny pieces of vegetable.
I thought for sure that this "Complete Meal" was a mistake! I called up the place and asked to speak to the "manager" and a woman came to the phone.
I told her that I had just gone to the restaurant and purchased the "complete meal" and that the chicken was burned and aked is 3 tiny potatoe wedges constitute a complete meal for $8.99!! she said "yup" that's what it is! and that was it! She obviously could care less that she has just received an opportuinity to satisfy a customer, and take the opportunity to realize that for every customer that complains, 10 others won't and don't and just never return. Did she capatalize on this opportunity to get to the bottom of what a long time LOYAL customer was upset about? Not at all.
