Good food, good service, clean place, good ambiance, good wine selection, good place for a business dinner.
I have seen better but also sen much much worse.
Ratio price quality is medium, not the best deal but not super expensive either.
Good cuts of meat. Went a few times while traveling in business, also saw a good portion of families dining there, also good for a family dinner.
It doesn't matter to me if the waiter is Mexican or Argentinian or Russian if the service is friendly and good, I don't expect the owner to import the waiters not realistic, always hire local help the way it should be, those reviews I've read complaining of the waiters not being Argentinian . . . I don't know what to say. get out more and get a life . . .

The Restaurant is plenty good for the area, it will not compete with other restaurants in bigger cities this is true but in a little corner of the good old South this is a good place worth a try if you live or are in the area.
My friends absolutely love this place, I know why.
Good Indeed! If you're around stop by have a good stake make up your own mind, very easy to love, pricing a little too steep, I calculate about 15% higher than it has to be probably . . .
Hope this helps.

I really like the atmosphere, it's a small cozy restaurant. Expect to pay more in similar restaurants in bigger cities.

My fiance and I have dined here 5 times. One of those times was back to back. That's how much we love their food. We especially enjoy the complimenary bread and dipping sauces. We have been served by different waiters and none were unpleasant or disappointing. Yes, the waiters are Mexican but they do not pretend to be Argentinian. I speak to them in Spanish when they seem not to understand my none-Spanish speaking fiance's requests. The atmosphere is pleasant not cold or snobbish and I've never seen it dirty or with crawling critters. At the Pampa, my fiance and I are more focused at each other and of our feast than at others whether they're being cold or snobish. The only negative aspect I have to admit to is the slippery floor. I only wear sky high stilletoes and never have a problem strutting in them, but making a trip to the bathroom on that floor makes me look quite silly like its the first time I've ever worn high heels as I'm having to hold on to the backs of peoples' chairs. Oh well.. But other than that, I love their ribeye steaks. I too have eaten at those restaurants mentioned previously and many more in Rhode Island, New York, and Boston and they are great. However, everyone's tasts buds vary and mine happen to love The Pampa's steaks the best. Ps. I may consider investing on some none-slip stick-ons on my stilletoes :)

These people who are saying this is the best steak they have ever had obviously have never been to a place like Morton’s, Ruth Chris or Del Frisco’s. Although La Pampa is not even in the same zip code as those previously mentioned restaurants, I found this place to be a good little restaurant, yes the steaks are just as good or better at Texas roadhouse but I find the place quaint and warm when compared to Texas roadhouse. Bottom line-is not as bad as some of these reviews say and not as good as some of these reviews say. Just know that for Brownsville is excellent but of you were in Dallas this place would just be considered average.

This is the place to eat in South Texas, especially for business requirements. Unlike places like the Texas Road House or some of the plain restaurants on South Padre Island, La Pampa is always good, the consistency is something that can be counted on when you need to entertain. It is not cheap and while some of the previous reviewers complain about things like the willingness to split up a check, the bottom line is the owner and staff will do anything to make you happy. I've had over 50 dinners and lunches at this place and all of the guests have always been very impressed. Having been to Argentina, I can assure you while this is not Buenos Aires, it is darn close. The beef is 1st rate and the wine list is strong.

On 4/8/09 my husband and I had dinner at this place and we were not impressed at all. First of all the food is O.K., but not GREAT! just expensive, we've had better, way better food for a lot less. The environment is snobbish, cold and dirty we saw roaches on the walls by the wine bottles. We got a snobbish waiter that looked like a mariachi man wanting to be Argentinian. Texas Roadhouse steaks are better then here, so do yourselves a favor and don't throw your money at LA PAMPA, that smells more like a POMPA. It's true we need a good steak house in Brown town, sorry to say it hasn't gotten here YET!!!! I would definitely not recommend this place to anybody and especially not to my friends, because I don't want to lose them. TERRIBLE!!! TERRIBLE!!! It's only a matter of time before LA PAMPA becomes extinct!!!

I love the food, the atmosphere, the service too. As far as I can remember, this is THE best steak I have EVER eaten - always cooked to order and always tender and juicy. This restaurant is certainly above the rest in Brownsville and provides a atmosphere not offered in other restaurants in the valley.

The Pampa Restaurant is a very small restaurant. The food itself is good. The environment is very noisy due in part to its small size. It is crowed and the floors are very slippery, quiet frankly they are unsafe. I was a member of a party of ten, 5 couples overall. They refused to breakup the ticket. They offered no compromise on the issue. The excuse given was " we only have one computer and it would take too long." Suddenly their problem was made our problem. We finally gave up and one member paid a $367.00 bill we had to do the math on loose pieces of paper to pay our friend on the spot. Very very poor service on this respect. We enojyed the food did not care for the service.
