Located near Lakeview in Chicago, La Gondola Italian Restaurant is an intimate place to have an authentic Italian meal. Having only a few tables within the restaurant, La Gondola has a noticeably laid-back feel, adorned with relics and photographs from Italy and other faraway places. As you are seated, diners are greeted with a basket of fresh bread and an olive oil dip to dine on while their meal is cooking. Chefs at La Gondola create masterful dishes like veal parmesan, chicken carbonara, stuffed gnocchi, and rigatoni boscaiola. The portions are generous, so come with an appetite.

La Gondola Italian Restaurant offers authentic Italian food and pizza. You'll definitely want to call and check their schedule and make sure they are open before trekking all the way across Chicago for it because their hours of operation vary. If you do catch them open, it is worth the visit. Dinnertime is the best time to go, although it may be a bit crowded. There is a full bar inside, so it's not really a great place to bring the little ones, but I'm sure you can be requested to sit away from the bar area. The prices of entrees vary, but don't expect to pay less than $20 per person. This is a great "first date" or "anniversary" place to have dinner because they have the low lighting and soft music playing. They are open for lunch on the weekends only, so if you don't get a chance to have that romantic dinner you've been planning for the past month because you couldn't find a babysitter, try taking the whole family out to lunch at La Gondola Italian Restaurant.
