a diner from Kalaheo, Kauai, HI
After being closed for over a year due to a death in the family (Mr. Lau - The owner and cook to be precise) they are again open with a new staff however they are still learning the preparation of the menu items and the those we ordered bore little resemblance to the former dishes in both appearance and taste. The special fried rice was quite bland and lacked the items that made it "special". The boneless chicken with Chinese peas was overly sweet and also included sliced onions which detracted from the subtle taste of the peas. The sweet-sour pork is now small pieces of pork fried in a sticky sweet sauce rather than the cubes of breaded and fried pork that were served with slices of green pepper, onion and pineapple in a tangy sweet-sour sauce. We will give them another chance and try several other dishes we used to order. I hope I can report good news but don't hold your breath.

Kauai Chop Suey offers a wide selection of Cantonese cuisine as well as "Sizzling Platters" which fill the entire dining area with the aromas of the Orient.
We especially enjoy the Krispy Gau Gee Mein with vegetables and the Sweet-Sour Pork. Portions are generous and quite affordable.
They cater to parties in an adjoining dining area and when this is the case the wait for your food may be as much as 20 minutes or more. It is, however, well worth the wait.
