A diner from guelph, ON

I just wanted someone to know that I went for a nice walk in Elora today with some friends and my dog. We thought we should get some ice cream at Jenny’s and my dog needed water after a long hike. We decided we would get my dog water first and then bring her to the car so we could come back and get ice cream. A gentleman on the street recommended that we go to Jenny’s. I first went in there and asked a girl if I could please have some water for my dog. She gave me some in a tiny Styrofoam cup. As I thanked her and walked away, I was stopped by who I think was the owner of Jenny’s. He yelled at his employee for giving me water in the Styrofoam cup since I had not yet bought anything and then he yelled at me demanding I pay 25 cents or get out. I did not have my wallet as were just returned from a hike. Regardless, I do not think the way he reacted was professional or appropriate at all. There was nobody else in the store. I gave him his cup back and told him he was a jerk, apologized to the girl for getting her in trouble and we left to find that other places were kind enough to have dog dishes with water outside of their businesses and even offered us free ice cream samples (Mapleton’s, great place!)! I have been to Jenny’s every time I have gone to Elora throughout my life but never again. His behaviour was inappropriate and rude and I will tell as many people as possible about this. My friends had never been to Jenny’s before and will never return. I just wanted to share this with someone and I truly hope the employees there are being treated with respect, but I am worried this is not the case, Thank you for allowing me to share. I hope someone looks into the treatment of employees there to ensure they are ok.
